FAQ

ECUxPlot won't run
Try installing as administrator

ECUxPlot complains about not being able to find main class
Make sure you have at LEAST Java JRE SE 6 . If that doesn't work, try Java JRE SE 7.

I dont see anything!
Turn off the filter (uncheck Options->Filter data).

I turned off the filter. Now it's a huge mess!
Turn on the filter (check Options->Filter data).

With the filter on, I dont see anything!
The filter option searches for a WOT run of a certain length in 3rd gear. If you don't meet that criterion, you won't see any data if you enable the filter. You can adjust the filter parameters in the "Options->Configure filter"  menu.

If you aren't in 3rd (or aren't logging "gear") or aren't WOT (or logging accelerator pedal position), the filter doesn't work that well. You can adjust the filter to look for a different gear in the "Options->Configure filter" menu. If you set gear to 0, the filter will ignore gear entirely. Useful if you are doing multi-gear pulls, or don't always log the same gear.

If your run doesn't start low enough, or isn't long enough (RPM range too short, insufficient samples), the filter won't let any data through.

If you are running into problems, please post your log file here and I will try to help. In some cases, ECUxPlot isn't detecting pedal/gear data properly from the .csv header and requires me to add your .csv format to it.

What is FATS?
FATS is ET from 4200-6500 in 3rd.

My HP estimate is way off
Adjust the numbers in "Vehicle Profiles->Edit Constants"

My flow estimates (compressor map, calc AFR etc.) are way off!
Adjust the numbers in "Vehicle Profiles->Edit Fueling"

The "MAF" parameter is a bit confusing. If you have a non-stock intake set up, the "MAF" parameter is used to set a *correction* to the MAF values calculated by the ECU. If your tune properly calibrates MAF readings for your MAF, you should leave this parameter alone. If, however, your ECU uses underscaled MAF values (you have a larger MAF, but stock MAF maps), you will have to increase the MAF diameter. The correction that ECUxPlot is using is shown in the box right under the MAF parameter so you can check for sanity. Future release will probably only have the correction, not the diameter, since it is increasingly uncommon for people to have improperly scaled MAF numbers.

If you aren't sure, you can calibrate it by hand by comparing Calc AFR with wideband data.

Having some issues with the filter/FATS window. Can't get data to show when filter is changed to 2nd gear. And 3rd gear data looks incorrect. Changed some settings around with no luck. I also noticed in the excel file for the log that its showing 4th and 5th gear being selected at a point in the log, when I know for a fact I skipped from 3rd to 6th. Not sure what this means..   My power levels are also way off. I edited the rpm/mph in constants, and it's even more inflated. Not sure what's going on there either.  Log attached.  Any help would be appreciated.

Nice, I'll have to check out the drag and drop.  Any thoughts on any of the suggestions I made a while ago (I know most of them need work/effort by someone [not necessarily always you], was just curious if you given them any thought)?

Under XP running fine...

Under W7 64 getting Error - "java runtime 1.5 required" - but java runtime is present on the 7 machine  :P

It seems like the install went through by using 'run as administrator'.
But starting the program only shows a blank graph. I used 'file open' on a few example .csv files posted here, but nothing shows.
Anything missing to get ECUxPlot to work?
How can I check if the required 'java' is installed (java update says I have the lastest)?

I want to use Nefmoto logger. Are the CSV output by nefmoto logger 'readable' by ECUxPlot?

Oh: is there a basic 'operator instruction manual' for ECUxPlot?
From making sure all files are properly installed and in the right place, to how to load the correct files (what format, columns, headers, etc.) and what/how to output. Plus some 'example' files to test the installation.

Note:
Win7-64 Pro, Netmoto logger, MS Office Pro Plus 2010

Seem like I got ECUxPlot to work on my win7-64 now, at least loading some csv file posted here shows something.
Now:
I have a bunch of
- Allroad 6spd
- Allroad tip
that I want to data log with NefMoto logger, and analyze/show the data with ECUxPlot

1. Can someone send me the correct/applicable Vehicle Profiles to use?
2. the sample CSV file I tried only puts out/exports (file/export all charts) on graph. I have seen listings that show an entire collection of charts. How can i generate those (one click)?

You'll have to supply that (vehicle weight, gearing, CD etc). its only relevant for HP estimation

You set up a bunch of presets then hit load all, then export all.

Is there any way to get my Zeitronix log to show up in PSI instead in millibar?  The Zeitronix data is in psi, but its being converted.  There is only one option for Zeitronix boost, unlike requested and actual.

Thank you NYET!  It works.  Also, thank you for helping me last night getting everything set back up again.

One last thing, I am having probelms with the MPH per RPM part.  I dont know how to calculate it.  Mine will be different I am sure since my car/trans is not S4.  Its 2.8 5speed gearing, and big ole 19" wheel tire combo.  What is the formula used to calculate the number I need?

Nye, I've got a suggestion for a function...

How hard is it to add a cursor line that intercepts all the graph lines and shows the value where the cursor is (much like a dynojet graph where you can choose with the mouse a spot on the graph)

see the attached for eg.

That said the two files you're showing isn't what I needed anyway :P  I was talking about the profiles for graphing.

Something I was hoping you could start support...

I frequently want to throw so many things on a chart (so that I load only one preset for at-a-glance purposes) that I rung out of meaningful y-axis scaling. For example:

Y-Axis 1: Load/WHP
Y-Axis 2: Timing/AFR

I also want to stick accel in g/s in there but due to the resulting value being at most 0.5-0.6 g, it is so compressed on Y-Axis 2 that it is pointless to even put it in there. Same would go for several other things that might  not necessarily fit on any scale used in this example.

If you could perhaps add an option to scale variables, even if only by decimal factor so: 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1 (default), 10, 100, 1000 it would be of great help as I would put said "g" value on Y-Axis 1 with a scale of 1000x and it would show nicely.

And one more request, important to me...

Can you add HP/TQ/Accel etc calculations based on vehicle speed instead of RPMs?

The reason I am asking is that sometimes I see wandering nmot_w during WOT pulls which completely throws off the HP/TQ/Accel calculations. I've had this issue before on a different ECU/crank sensor/clutch/FW and it is back albeit in much less severe fashion.

Once you think about it, the way you do it now is actually kind of backwards as it assumes some things like that RPM signal is perfect (but it might oscillate quite heavily if the engine misfires for example and FW buffers the shocks allowing the engine to "rubber band" in respect to drive train) and rpms per mph are chosen right... Working off vfil_w would be more consistent as that's what ECU sees the tranny output shaft spinning at.

Hi Nyet,

Great bit of kit this.  I was wondering if you could help me.  I did look for this info but couldn't find it in print and I don't have an Audi to test the logger.

I've written a CAN-BUS logger for Volvo ME7 which seems to work nice.  I'd like to output the data to CSV for easy input into your software.

Could you point me a list a list of field names it will automagically like (assuming there are some).  Ideally I'd like to make the process as automatic as possible, it's easy enough to print whatever field names we need at the top of the CSV file.

FYI, the tool will be Freeware in-case you are wondering.  No plans for open source at the minute though.

The variables it may log will be, rpm, gear, ait, coolant temp, egt, throttle, boost, ignition, tcv, desired boost, and both knock sensor voltages.

Cheers!

John.

Sorry, I don't actually have an easily digestible list like it, but here are two possible starting points

the source itself (yea, its a mess)

https://github.com/nyetwurk/ecuxplot/blob/master/src/org/nyet/ecuxplot/ECUxDataset.java

but more importantly: some ecu defs/aliases from ME7L (especially the 2nd column):

https://github.com/nyetwurk/ME7L/blob/master/defs/me7_alias.map

unfortunately, most of those names come from ECUx, so a lot of them may not make much sense, especially the Load names.

Pretty much got it sorted with trial and error and a browse through the source.

It's a very nice bit of software you have written there!! :D

I read in another thread there is a .kp => XDF converter somewhere in a bundle with ECUxPlot. I looked around and I'm not finding it. I know its called mapdump. Where'd ya put it?

mapdump.exe in the ecuxplot install dir (or should be, unless i screwed up the installer again)

no, it's in there. I didn't realize it was in the folder until right now because I just checked. I was looking in ECUxPlot the program.  ???

updated to 0.9r5.3

mapdump should work now under windows.

I tried to open a 19MB log file in ECUxPlot but the file is a Log.xml, produced from Neflogger. Nothing happened but it took forever for nothing to happen. The program went unresponcive for a time and then when I tried to open anything it would just freeze up for a while after. Needless to say I didnt get it working. Is it possible to get log.xml files to load and be analyzed?

I have not tried to get it to work with nefmoto logs yet. It DEFINITELY does not support them :(

Also, it looks like the mapdump.exe is still broken. You can try to use mapdump.jar if you are very familiar with java, but if you aren't it will probably just cause headaches.

I'm actually at the track (sonoma) right now, and wont be back till tues, then leaving again the week after so its unlikely i'll have time to work on either issue until nov :/

ok I guess I'll stop trying to make it load the neflogger file. :P

If I didn't PM you with the error I got from mapdump I meant to. I'll get it there eventually.

Good luck at the track, thats awesome! win win win

xPlot loads the Neflogger file now but no information shows up. There are no parameters to check in the axis drop down menus either. I don't think it's reading the file correctly maybe. or you didn't add support for it yet. lol

I didn't get mapdump.exe working either. I get the same error as I sent you in the PM. The .kp file I used to try it out is from 2.24 version. I remember it was said that Mapdump won't do all the different .kp versions. If you want the files I used let me know.

I didn't add nef support yet, just trying to get a stable mapdump.exe

you seem to be having path problems.. can you try it making sure there is no space in the path to the file?

or cd to the file directory, and run mapdump.exe like

"c:\Program Files (x86)\ECUxPlot\mapdump.exe" in.kp > out.xdf

if you dont use "-i" and a ref bin you will have to hand edit the xdf to add the bin file size.

I've "cd"ed all the way down to ECUxPlot and ran mapdump, even copying and pasting the file path to the .kp file.

Do I have to create the .xdf file first or put in the file path to where I want the file created? I tried both but get the same error but with it as the object of path error instead of the.kp.

After taking spaces out of the file name and such, the errors show me more and more filename/path that is suppossedly unknown until I have taken all spaces out between words and finally I get the can not find the specified file cmd error.  At first, even though the file name is "extended HS mappack- 362937.kp" the error only shows " 362937.kp" as the file name saying it is unknown.

If i change the file's name to "extendedHSmappack937362.kp", in the error it shows that exactly but saying it can't be found.

I even moved the file to the ECUxplot folder and get the same results. so the in.kp = C:\Program Files\ECUxplot\extendedHSmappack937362.kp

If i change in the path the space between "Program" and "Files" I get the "system can not find specified file" error.

I dont think this matters but I'm running this on a Vista machine.

probably long filename and/or space in filename related. i dont use cmd.exe because it sucks ass for this reaason, i use bash/cygwin or linux.

in any case, it should work though; i think you have lots of quoting issues. not sure how familiar you are with cmd.exe, but its a piece of utter shit for that reason.

My bad, my windows computer can't handle loading the internet so I'm using my mac to post to the forum and the windows to use Tunerpro RT...

I'm lost. The file is showing it's an .xdf under file properties. Also, I followed the conversion code in your post in command. I CD'ed down to ECUxplot then inputed it the same way you did but with my username.

Quote
C:\Users\nyet\src\ecuxplot>dir data\8D0907551M.bin

               0 Dir(s)  16,422,436,864 bytes free

C:\Users\nyet\src\ecuxplot>dir data\2.24-M.kp
Volume in drive C has no label.
 Volume Serial Number is 5CBA-D86A

 Directory of C:\Users\nyet\src\ecuxplot\data

               1 File(s)         32,465 bytes
               0 Dir(s)  16,422,436,864 bytes free

C:\Users\nyet\src\ecuxplot>"c:\Program Files (x86)\ECUxPlot\mapdump.exe" -i data
\8D0907551M.bin -k data\2.24-M.kp -x > out.xdf

C:\Users\nyet\src\ecuxplot>

Then, went into where ECUxplot dumped both the csv and xdf and chose the xdf and tried to load it. Unless the conversion dumped out two csv files.....not sure what's up.

windows "file properties" don't care about content, only the filename extension.

windows sucks.

hmm, ok, well mapdump's conversion of the xdf from kp is spitting out a csv claiming to be an xdf. What can be done about this?

Title: Re: ECUxPlot 0.9r5.4 released - please read the FAQ in this thread!
Post by: nyet on November 03, 2013, 04:48:27 PM
mapdump doesn't care about the filename either. It is looking for "-x".

If you omit -i and are using -x, it is likely dumping an error message into the output, which is being piped to your .xdf file.

Have you looked at the contents of the .xdf?

pretty cool tool nyet :)

this may be the most dumb question in this thread, but i have to ask it:
is it possible to set the range of y-axis 2? if yes, where? :-[

and: does a list exist which labels are needed/used to calc the "special functions" like compressor map etc.?

thank you and kind regards

Title: Re: ECUxPlot 0.9r5.4 released - please read the FAQ in this thread!
Post by: nyet on November 04, 2013, 06:25:26 PM
1) by default, both y-axis 1 and y-axis 2 are autoscaled, but you can use the mouse to select a range you want to zoom in on.
2) no, no such coherent list exists, unfortunately, but if you are having problems I can tell you specific details for a calc func, or you can browse the source on github :/

Title: Re: ECUxPlot 0.9r5.4 released - please read the FAQ in this thread!
Post by: MIL_on on November 05, 2013, 12:37:48 AM
ok
the reason im asking is for example the screenshot in attachment, where the lambda is a few times 4.0 which doesnt really care, but  that combined with autoscale destroys completely any visibility of the data you care of that label :(

alright i'll have a look in the code and maybe i can start such a map, when i find some unused time :D
thank you nye!

How does the calc AFR get calculated?  Which variables?

Reason I ask is because with the RS6 there are 3 mshfm variables, one for each bank and a combined.  I'm assuming it's trying to use mshfm_w (combined)

Also what is the MAF offset value?  Stock it is 6.0 g/s but Bosch MAFs are normally 200 kg/hr ~ 55.5 g/s, but that does not work,  I'm sure I'm just missing something simple.

I'm using A8 MAFs (Stock A8 MLHFM, so I don't change the MAF correction) with EV14 980cc inj

Also what is the MAF offset value?

Thats only there in case you need to offset the MAF readings because you know your measurements are wrong (similar to if your maf is underscaled).

Ok that is not working for the RS6? maybe an issue for 8 cyl or 980cc inj too big?

ECUxplot shows actual AFR ~14.5 during idle but AFR Calc is showing ~6?

i'd probably just tweak MAF correction until it looks right at idle.

strange. CalcAFR comes from calc MAF and whatever column is aliased to FuelInjectorOnTime

I thought ti was with the latency values (tvub) and te was without so would we not want to use te (EffInjectionTime)?  I could be totally wrong but looking at my log the numbers match up

Just wondering if you could add WHP/WTQ/HP/TQ (and any other variables that may make sense, like DRAG?) calcs based on vehicle speed instead of RPMs,

I would opt for adding extra options like "Calc WTQ (Speed Based)" and modifying old options to "Calc WTQ (RPM based)" instead of replacing them altogether.

The reason for this is simple. There is currently no way to reliably compare two logs/graphs between two different cars or if you change gearing, tire size, etc. I have logs from K04 set up on my allroad, which had different transmission to what I currently have with 770s, but would also like to throw some S4 stuff on to compare too. I can't load two logs into the same graph to have apples to apples comparison as only one set of "vehicle profiles" can be used on one graph with its RPM per mile variable. If I instead open two graphs and set each to a different profiles, the auto scaling kicks in and it makes it real hard to compare and I still can't have everything overlaid nicely on one graph.

It would be of great help if that could be accomplished.

Yea, absolutely can be done easily. I'll try to have it in the next release.

Keep in mind that it means your tune has to take into account wheel diameter etc. so the wheel speed sensor reports the right speed...

Roger, my special case is already properly adjusted for wheel size.

The upgrade will neatly solve my last issue with abandoning excel altogether, Mark P's power calcs use speed which makes power measurement independent from gearing/platform.

Thanks!

And actually, it still suffers from the same problem if they have different weights, F/A, drag, etc :/

Profiles per LOG might be appropriate, but it could prove difficult to do, unless we add a way to provide that data inside the log itself.

True, if comparing between two completely different cars but at least the same car's but different ratios would be doable... deriving from say 3rd, 4th and 5th gear runs will be fully automatic.

I leave it to your to figure out something if we really want cross-platform ability to compare... Perhaps doing per log and leaving "open log" the way it is, let it apply default config. But when somebody tries "Add File", have them make a choice of which config to use?

Thanks for fixing mapdump.exe

I just downloaded 0.9r5.5 and ran it using winblows cmd.exe and it worked perfect.

used: mapdump.exe -i name.bin name.kp -x name.xdf

And it generated the correct .xdf file for tuner pro from my winols .kp file that I exported.

Thanks again Nye!

Feature request...

Ability to filter by filtered run.  Say three runs make it past the filter, the ability to hide one or more would be nice.

unfortunately not. the .kp format is an utter piece of non-portable proprietary shit.

in theory, we could convert .xdf to a2l and import that into OLS though.

Fix all the bugs! :). But seriously, I could really use mph/kph based calculations instead just purely RPM based.

I am not sure if this is already in there and I didn't notice.. but it would be nice if you could page through multiple "pulls" in a log file... Like a next pull, previous pull.  Then I wouldn't have to modify log files in order for ECUxPlot to display the information that I want to see.

Sorry if this is already in there... but I didn't see it.

Thanks!

0.9r5.6 released (see thread start)

* Add support for semicolon separated CSVs
* Add True Timing, support mm:ss.SSS time stamps
* Add aliases section for ECUx logs
* Handle case where ME7Logger gets corrupted by extra whitespace
* Range patch from sbloom82's pull request. Reformatted to handle whitespace problems.

this was an open source project that I stole the code from.  you can probably easily port this code to java.

0.9r6.0 released:

* Add option for verbose, do better at deducing units, don't add any units to axis if none found
* MAF in kg/hr (issue 16)
* Add note to show that rpm/mph is only used when VehicleSpeed isn't present
* Support using VehicleSpeed for power/torque calcs if it exists
* Add comment about how to ignore gear
* Handle spaces in JAVA_HOME correctly
* Look for plain "TPS" to detect throttle plate
* Handle German VCDS logs
* Check array bounds
* Fix typo in Eff injector axis menu and calc
* Add csvs so we can diff them when we do a new build
* Properly detect if target rt.jar exists
* Target RT back to 1.6 so we still have MacOS support
* Makefile changes, Volvo logger changes
* First pass at volvo logger support

Thanks for the speed based calculations!

I am feeling that power n tq calculations are more off now with latest ecux.
Looking through my logs and comparing too my dyno.
We can say, it was more accurate before based on fats, then now.
Car was dynoed on very low reading mustang, showing 413whp.
Logs based on fats with older ecu x version showed 405-410whp.
Now the same logs with latest ecu x shows 380whp.
What's up?

Ugh. I was suspicious of the speed sensor, it looks like it is pretty far off ... I will make an option next release for either a speed correction factor, or an option to fall back to RPM :(

I was afraid of this, but was too lazy to check it.

Request feature:
Text file that is parsed on startup for RPM "aliases".
I use ecuxplot for great many logs - BMW, Subaru, Mitsu etc etc, and I have to go and edit most text files to change the name of the RPM to "RPM" for ecuxplot to pick it up.

For example, a file like "aliases.txt":
RPM;label1;label2;label3;label4
TPS;label1;label2;label3;label4
IAT;label1;label2;label3;label4

Then run the translation when the file is loaded based on the aliases file.

Absolutely 100% doable... i'd really like some sort of loadable equation definition file too, for complex calcs, but I agree an "aliases" would be an excellent start. Much of it is hardcoded and really should be easily extensible.

Hi all....

I'm a bit ashamed to ask this question, but i'm bloked...probably forgot something, or just don't understand (I'm not speaking english very well)  :-\

Since 2 hours, i try to make ECUxPLOT working on my PC (Win xp pro SP3), with the last ExP update (0.9r6.0).
The install worked fine, the soft open without any issue, but i can't see anything.

First, let me say i try to read a VCDS log, so, although it seems to me that this is possible, the problem may be there.
Then, my car is a MED9 audi S3 8P, so perhaps i made a mistake in config setup.

I try to disable filter, configure vehicule data, configure filter.....the screen remains desperately gray  :(.
I know that I necessarily forgotten something, but i' really don't know what.

In attachement, the LOG i try to plot.

Very thank's for answers.

Nye, I've got a suggestion for a function...

How hard is it to add a cursor line that intercepts all the graph lines and shows the value where the cursor is (much like a dynojet graph where you can choose with the mouse a spot on the graph)

see the attached for eg.

Hey Nye, any chance you would be able to implement this feature in your next release?  :D

My ecux plot was working all day. All of a sudden I load a log and then all it does is act like it's loading. I restart the comp and get the message "Can't open codes file Codes.DAT" and it still just thinks it's loading the log into ecux plot. I uninstall it, reinstall it same thing. Goes back to loading and doesn't do anything else.

Let me know what my next step should be.

https://github.com/nyetwurk/ecuxplot/issues/23

Three options:
a) If the .txt is present, ignore the standard list
b) Add the .txt to the standard list
c) Create a .txt out of the standard hardcoded list and provide a default .txt which the user can edit.

Ofcourse it is logical explanation. My RS weights much more with me and full tank than an S4. It bumps estimates a bit. Didn't wanna belive that. It is what it is.

Hello nyet!
Your programm is the best for logviewing! Thanks for great work! But it would be much better if you could add manual multipliers for different Y parameters, or autoscale them in one axis.
For example on this screenshot I cant see "small valued" parameters such as AFR or IAT or ignition angles against the "high valued" RPM or MAP in mBar. After 10 min in Excel I've manually prepared multiplied log on second screenshot.

Yea this is a pretty big limitation; I just try to pick y and y2 appropriately.

A generic scaling UI would be nice, but i can't figure out a way to make it both user friendly and usable (not to mention scale lable clarity)

Is there a way to force it to remember the settings i did?

For example: it starts with the values i selected in the last log, which is great.

Unfortunately it starts every time in a smaller window, not fullscreen.
If i open the logs i have to change the folder view to "details" and "ordered by date" every time i open a file.

Regards

This would be really easy to implement.  If it remembers settings, they're stored somewhere.  Wouldn't be too hard to get it to remember the closing screen position.

That, and getting it to open the folder it was last in (must be stored), and get it to remember display settings.

For most though, I think details and ordered by date would be the preference, so would be even easier to get it to do this.

If it was open-source I'd add it myself.

It is open source.

I was gonna check this, but I can't in work.  I'll have a look when I get home, wouldn't be too hard.

It's Java based IIRC.  Wouldn't take me too long to pick it up, I'm fluent in VB and it's basically the same.

Nye,

On my netbook, I am struggling to use ECUx Plot. When I open it, it looks like it tries to launch but then nothing happens. I was doing it while watching the processes screen and can see the process come up into the queue but then drops off right away and doesn't open the app. I tried doing it with "run as admin" but still no dice. Is this a limitation you think of my netbook? I can't see ECUx plot being that hungry to the point it wouldn't open. I can run everything else fine.

Hate to be the guy to pop in with a request, but I think the ability to select which runs to display is sorely missing.

As in, say there are 5 runs in the log that meet the filter criteria, a drop down menu with checkboxes to select/deselect which ones are displayed, so that you could look at one or two at a time instead of a mad plot of lines and giant list of variables at the bottom taking up half the display.

I know it's open source and maybe I will play with it some day, but it shouldn't be too difficult and it would be a massive improvement imo.

Hi,

I have an installationproblem with Ecu X plot. Ist a javaproblem. I followed the instructions. Ecu X Plot ist installed as admin. My system is a Win7 prof 64 bit.
I also installed Java like the program suggested. Ist Java runtime 13 or so on. The info card says Java version 8 update 231.

If I start Ecu X Plot I get an error: "A JNI error has occured, please check your Installation and try again." After click to ok the next window is: "A Java Exception has occured".

What is wrong and how can I start Ecu X :-)? I know ist a noob question, but i dont find a solution.

Thank you for help.

I closed the PR because it wasn't actually a useful PR. It was a fucking disaster. You opened a PR to merge an ancient branch (my own) into master.

Not sure what you think you are doing, but you should probably learn a bit more about the github PR workflow.

Woah! That's not very helpful.

I only wanted to contribute. I am not a Java developer; I gave you the code changes and asked you politely to merge it and you requested I opened a PR, which I did following the only steps that github allowed me. My apologies if I am unable to jump backwards through hoops to satisfy your expectations. I will not contribute again.

Yes. But it did not give me any other options. It was either PR from 'winols' or nothing. Then it asked me to upload the modified files in zip format (which I did) and assumed it was kosher.

You may want to review the github PR submission workflow.

In general

1) fork the repo to your own github projects
2) git clone your project to a local checkout dir
3) make a PR branch in the local checkout dir
4) make your changes locally
5) do a 'git diff' to make sure they make sense
6) check your changes into the PR branch
7) push the PR branch to your own githpub fork of the project
8) open a pull request to pull from your fork to main of the upstream repo

All of the above requires a good working knowledge of both git and github.

Literally this.  I tried to use it ages ago and it was a ball-ache.  No need for so many mouse clicks literally to request to change some code.

You could also send a diff. Or a patch.

But literally the entire open source universe works this way, I have opened literally dozens of PRs with projects that have 100k+ people working on it.

It isn't hard.

Hi Nyet,

finally german language vcds logs do work.

i do have a new request. attached log contains rpm two times and it is not available in ecuxplot because it is renamed to rpm and rpm raw.
the 2nd file attached is a test where i renamed the rpm columns and they are availible to select in ecuxplot.

thank you for your great work

regards

That is intentional so the RPM based calculators (and most importantly, the filter) knows what to look for.

yes, understand

but in my logfile you will find two different rpm values at the same time/mark
one is used together with the speed and its important to select the correct one

I'm not quite sure how to handle that.

Hi Nyet, thank you for creating that extra version

as you can see on the attachment:
The mouseover on the 2nd var is not working. (red circle)
I renamed the 2nd rpm to Motordrehzahl2. The Motordrehzahl1 is interpreted as your RPM, I get that.
Unfortunatelly the 2nd rpm is not used for the correct drawing and thatswhy the drawing is a bit off.

@20.03 its 6320rpm --> correct
and
its 231kmh --> incorrect because this speed is already reached at 19.90

I think the code was never meant to interpret different time(s) in one line.

In me7logger files you will find one time and alot of other .values from that some time.
In vcds you will have different times in one column.

Yes, there is no way to fix this; there is only one real time ref per file. The most I can do is allow you to specify different times as x axis, but ECUxPlot doesn't know it's not a time axis.

VCDS is really bad in this regard, its not real time series data like all other logs.

Extending it to allow multiple times in the same log would be a lot of work.

Hello,

I just installed the latest release at a freshly setup system with Windows 7 32bit and JRE8u271.
I'm getting an error message at startup stating:

"An error occurred while starting the application.
The Version of %1 is not compatible with the executing version of Windows.
Open the system information of the computer to check if a x86-(32Bit)- or a x64(64Bit)-version of the program is necessary and contact the supplier of the software"

Is that problem known? Is there any chance to fix it?

JRE9 is required for ECUxPlot

As there is no latter version as JRE8u271 for 32bit systems available it means it is only possible to use it on 64bit systems. That's too bad :(

Oracle pretty much screwed everyone.

Java is almost entirely useless thanks to them. I'd port it to different language but .. ugh. To make it cross platform that would likely mean electrum. Fuck that.

FYI

If anyone is getting visual glitches on a gaming PC in ecuxplot and are using RivaTuner Statistics Server, close it.

Windows 10 forced my laptop to update and now my ecuxplot won't load a datalog. It allows me to start the program, select a log, but when I click open it builds the graphic area with default axis without any data displayed and freezes. I let it run for 15min just to be sure it wasn't my laptop but that didn't help. Tried all the normal stuff like power cycle, etc. Anyone else having this issue?

The update was:
February 14, 2023—KB5022834 (OS Builds 19042.2604, 19044.2604, and 19045.2604)

Installed on   ‎11/‎10/‎2022
