Title: MED9.1 flash from comercial tuner
Post by: dartroom on March 24, 2020, 03:50:38 AM
I have ecu with flash prepared by tuner. Now i read flash with mpps clone. I got question. Ols detect incorrect checksum. How its possible, this ecu work fine? I want make few changes on this tune and i afraid that corrected checksum from ols will brick my ecu.

You have original winols?

No, popular 2.24. im not a professional, just for my cars.

When i use e2pa to checksum, e2pa tell me that, rsa area is modified. Even when ols do checksum and i check it on e2pa software i have same onfo about rsa.

E2P is for your EEPROM not the ROM. That could be an old Checksum module and there is a new on the most recent WINOLS version. You will need someone to confirm though. Both may work. If you have a backup of your rom working then you wont brick it by flashing it with a non CSM'd file. you just will need to flash back the original rom after. I have a bad time flashing with MPPS btw. it gets 80% in on MED9.1 and it just stops... BDM was the best, but i had to get a bench and such to hold the pins steady.

It's a stupid idea squared to try to make changes to that.

Rule 1 of tuning - ALWAYS START WITH THE ORIGINAL FILE.

I hope you have BDM because you are most likely going to brick your ECU if the file contains ANY protection whatsoever.

Ok i just tune ori flash from this ecu.
I bought secound ecu, and with bdm will mach epprom immo off.

If i want to clone my own ecu, can i read eeprom from this tuned ecu, combine with ori flash and write to spare ecu?

Or first need to flash ori with mpps and after that i can clon with bdm?

You need the whole BDM Flash from your working ECU to move it to the Spare ECU, three parts, one file.

For the BDM flash its so much faster ive just been pulling the ECU for changes. I export the ROM i want to tune, Adjust the tables i want to test, Import it back to the BDM flash (a copy), Checksum it with the BDM tool, Save it as REV(whatever). Then flash it with BDM. Works mint. MPPS is a PITA (clone at least).

Ok i understad but i dont want to open my ori ecu.

My ori ecu is 1k0 907 115j hw: 0261S02331 sw: 1037387479
I have secound med9.1 but from audi a4 8E0 910 115K. I will open it and write someone full ecu backup from internet ( eeprom + flash same number hw sw like mine ori), with modified eeprom with e2pa software to immo off

There is a chance that it will work?

I dont know if i can use ecu with this numbers (probably any med9.1 are same on hardware level) and whether the program will correctly disable immo.

Get a heat gun, crack that open and read it. Before you brick it and then your really in trouble. Its not that bad cracking the ECU.. the first time it is, but then your fine after that :)

With proper tools you do not need to open the ECU to do a full clone.
But with cheap china stuff you do.

Exactly, i can use only china stuff becouse its not a good deal for me buy stuff for few private tunes.

Last question: in my ecu a heve stage1flash + eeprom
Now i will copy with bdm.
Can i marriage ori flash from my ecu ( probably readed with kess) with eeprom readed with bdm and write it with bdm?
Did flash from obd read is complete?

Or better do backup with bdm and write ori with mpps clone?

Autotuner gave a "coming soon" preview in december 2019 that med9 / edc16 benchmode will be added. Untill now it isnt added but i expect it will be there in future too. Since there are no annual fees no hurry for sure.

trasdata does as well.
