Title: Audi A6 C5 allroad, problems with K-line
Post by: BlackT on December 05, 2020, 08:37:19 AM
I recently bought allroad MY 2001, I have manage only once to connect with VCDS, but only when car was off.
Now it is not posible, VCDS show K-line short to ground
With many may tries i have manage to read cluster PN but than no response from controler. Also LED on VCDS cable blink with red color(on other cars it glow green LED)
I tried to put on OBD plug ground and 12V from some other place of car but without progress.
Car have many equipement, I suspect that some module is interupting K-line. But how to find witch one? Is there some familiar error with some of modules?

Why are you taking pictures of your screen instead of using screen shot?

And wtf is up with a portrait picture of a screen? bizarre. Please, show some attention to detail. You've been here long enough to know better than to take shortcuts and be sloppy.

Also, try a dedicated kline to rule out any other issues.

first check if there is a aftermarket radio - usually there is some short circuit to K-line in connections

I am posting from mobile phone, so don't have screnshots from PC. Also my internet connection is realy realy bad(slower than dial-up) so it is really hard to post. Sorry for that, when I get home I will fix it

As far I can see everything on car is OEM

Check voltage on kline

What you mean by that dedicated k-line?

1) does it work on the bench
2) if so, run a dedicated kline from the obd connector in car directly to the ecu

if that works, you have a harness issue

if neither works, either your ecu is bad or your cable is bad

Yes that is my plan also, even I am 99% it will work on bench. In that way I will only test that ECU is fine. But I need full diagnsotic on car

I cut K line from cluster and connect it to obd port. Now I can connect to cluster and ECU. Cluster show comunication error with telephone modul. So that is where I will start. I will find telephone module, unplug it and see what will happen

it should be in passenger footwell , under the carpet , almost on the firewall

Under carpet: TCU is in front of pasaanger seat, ESP control unit is on firewall( in front off legs) and that is all I can see on passanger side...

I see something brown under arm rest, behind gearbox lever. But it is hard to get it to that module, but it could be that what I am looking for

Yes but if you have that brown telephone module in centre console then it has no diagnose connection so its not it.
