Title: Help for tuning the first time rightly KFMIOP / KFMIRL / KFMIZUFIL / KFMIZUOF
Post by: andre-77 on December 17, 2020, 02:22:05 AM
Hi everybody!
i've spent much time during the last weeks to perform a right (as possible i can) and rich of values XDF (starting from a BAM one) and now i would like share it with you, i think that will be useful for someone like me have an APX engine with the 8L0906018M_0002 ECU.
After that i've re-started again with tuning my ECU making a new .bin based on the original one.
That's how i've done until now:

Edit Log for 04_Audi TT.bin created by TunerPro.

i didn't changed any values or axis of the tables KFLDIMX / KFLDRL / KFLDRAPP because i'll do this in a second time as suggest in this usefull topic: http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=517.msg4028#msg4028
Now, using the TVLDMX value i would find the "open loop point" to be sure to be always in open loop with my boost.

At this point i'm looking for tuning KFMIOP / KFMIRL / KFMIZUFIL / KFMIZUOF, i've understand that i've to correct the tables according to my new LDRXN values, and so, the new boost request (is a simplyfication, i know), but onestly i didn't understand how i can perform it. I've understand that i've to log mrfa/mimax/mifa/milsol/misopl1 but for the first time what i've to do for setting rightly that tables?.
i've understand that if i dont do this my car didn't runs righly and so i think i can't perform a usefull log for improve my tuning...i'm wrong???.
So please someone could explain me how can i set this tables? thank you so much.

Why have you changed:
KRKTE
TVUB
NLLM
TEMIN
NFSM
CWMDAPP
TVLDMX
KFWLL

?

The reason of the changes are showed below into the picture attached, on my engine as you can see, I’ve mounted the 550cc injectors.
I’d changed NNLM because my car are skat and with the SAE pump removed, so I preferred to set my idle to 900 rpm.
I changed KFWLL table because my engine, during warmup goes a bit lean (~17:1 of AFR).
I changed CWMDAPP like the S4 say and TVLDMX for reduce the WGDC for finding the right set point for going always in open loop and next being able to calibrate KFLDIMX and KFLDRL.

It'll have helped to have seen that in the first instance. I don't agree with limiting DC the way you have and I don't like how high your TEMIN is.

Ok, thanks for your evaluation.
The TEMIN value was given by a my friend that have the same injectors and works fine.
About the limiting the WGDC if you don’t like the way i used, tell your way to do. I’m sure that I’ll learn something....and what about the topic’s questions? Can you help me?

Lift IOP and IRL on the last row to 250 and 95%.  Leave TEMIN alone.  Lifting it so high means it'll likely run into it at idle and cause an over rich condition for no reason.  You usually lower TEMIN, not raise it.

Leave TVLDMX at 95% and use RAPP to fix DC, as described in the linearisation thread.

Ok Adam thank you! And what about IOP axis? I’ve to change the last row from 191 to 250?
Thank you

I perfomed two logs with the two maps i've generate.
The fisrt one, the 04 one, have the boost control based on limiting the WGDC using the TVLDMX parameter setted to 30%.
The second one are the based on the Adam's advices. I've setted as you said TVLDMX and KFMIRL /KFMIOP but i didn't update the KFMIOP axes.
The result are this: with the 04 map the boost are less aggressive but more linear, 1.3 bar at peak boost, and there'isnt any ECU error.
Testing the Adam's map, boost are too much aggressive and runs up faster than before but around 1.5 bar the ECU gave me a P1555 error and limited the WGDC to 0%.
Common issue of the maps are too much fuel during WOT (10:1 afr), so please can you give your opinions about this logs?

Very appreciate, thanks.

Your 04 log is corrupted. Please post original, unedited csvs

Also go WOT so ECUxPlot's filter works.

Finally, 05 looks horrible. I don't know where to start.

Oh s**t  :o

I've posted the original one made by Me7 Logger as the 05 one  :-\

I'll perfome another log using the 04 map so...  :-[

I'd worked on my map for getting a better result.
Attached there's the Log and the Map.
I'll really appreciate every suggestions and comments about.

Thank you.

stop lifting during log.

Get a log with wot to redline.

Actually, I take that back. DO NOT GO WOT. What is up with your WG? Is it not working?

You are going to blow up your turbo or motor or both.

Also why are you requesting boost near the map limit?

You need to stop getting distracted by the complicated stuff and fix the basics.

I’m always goes to the redline without lifting the foot.

Sorry but why? Have you read my old post about my engine setup? I’ve not the stock turbo but an hybrid one, I haven’t the stock rods but the H beam ones, I’ve upgraded spring valves, mono mass flywheel, stage 3 clutch, 550cc injectors ecc... so Im not blowing anything I’m just trying to get the best from my engine.

Also why are you requesting boost near the map limit?

I’m requesting boost near to the MAP limit because who’s designed the Turbo (Mr. Bill Brokman from Badger 5) suggested me, according to my engine setup, to set up the boost around 1.7 bar.
And that’s I’ve done.
So please if you want to comment my log I’ll really appreciate the efforts to help me to set rightly my engine but if you want to help me please try to get the full scenario first.

1) Do not run req near the MAP limit without the 5120 hack. Period. If your tuner tells you otherwise, fire them. I don't care how built your motor is. If the ECU isn't aware you are overboosting, you could easily blow something up, even if *you* think you aren't overboosting.
2) KFPED is not 100% to redline in your last log. If you tried to use the filter in ECUxPlot this would be immediately obvious to you, which shows both ped and throttle plate well under 100%
3) You need to rethink whatever you are doing in the PID completely before touching anything else
4) You need to make sure you NEVER go over the MAP limit on actual boost, period.

I’ve tried to do the 5120 hack, I asked help many times in this community but without any success...
Please tell me why are so bad? I can’t easily goes in open loop mode?

Ok I’ll try again

3) You need to rethink whatever you are doing in the PID completely before touching anything else

Ok, so what’s your advice or better, which will be the right strategy for rethinking my PID?

The opposite. DO NOT RUN OPEN LOOP. Period. Until you get it working, stay at 21 PSI or lower until you get a working 5120 file. If you didn't intend to do this from the start (and had plans for it) you should not have chosen the turbos you did.

Dunno, but whatever you are doing currently does not merit working on whatever you think your "next steps" are.

A quick glance at actual vs requested should tell you as much.

Ok, so first which are the right MAP sensor to replace for reading around 5 bar? Ok I’ll try to perform a 5120 map.

Always a cryptic answer...I noticed that I’ve a problem with the actual vs requested but I hoped to get a better answer and or advice to correct the problem, but ok I’ve understand that I’ve to perform a map under the MAP limit until I’ll perform a 5120 one.
