Title: Water damage ecu
Post by: Nic88 on March 24, 2021, 11:20:42 AM
Hi guys, my ecu got some water on it. As a result the car won't start... I tried connected to the ecu with vcds but not luck. I left it for a few days and sprayed contact cleaner etc. I don't have any corrosion or visible damage. But It still wont work when connected to the car, but on my bench setup I can connect to the ecu with no issues. Is there a relatively easy process to fix the ecu, does someone perhaps know why it work work off the car but not on. It's an me7.5

So as ecu works on a bench... I also put a faulty ecu in the car and thay works. So it can't be the harness on the car. I'm not sure if there is any fuse/capacitor on the ecu thats involved when connected to the car

Step 1.
Buy another ECU

Step 2.
Clone the current one to the new one.

Forget about using any ECU after water damage.
