Title: ME7.5 how to tell if wideband
Post by: wachu on November 24, 2021, 08:25:36 AM
Hello,

I own Audi TT 8N 1.8T AJQ from 2000. I have ME7.5 8N0 906 018 AC (00-08-10) and got few questions:

1. Does my ECU supports a wideband? (If not, how can i tell which ones are narrow and wide?)
2. Does the lower right numbers mean the manufacture date of ECU?
3. What is the best ME7.5 ECU i can find?

I will have a BAM engine with big turbo and i would love to have:

- Wideband o2
- Map switching?
- Easiest one to chiptune

Thank you in advance.

Also, i have 3" MAF (0 280 218 065 part number), will it work plug and play with new ECU and current harness? Or i need to modify the MAF harness as well?

1: no, AJQ is narrowband. Though we can rather easily convert this to wideband, my thread is still in the noob section which contains all the info tbh.

2: idk

3: Doesn't matter as long as it's a wideband ECU from a transverse engine.

Swapping a BAM into a (good running) AJQ is a waste of money and time since they both use the 20mm wrist pins. Performance wise AJQ only lacks VVT and wideband, which we can both just swap in using either a complete wideband loom, or just run a few wires.

MAF will work, just copy over MLHFM from BAM file.

Thank you very much for help.

My last question is shall i go with 4.2 or 4.9 sensor? Is there a specific part number that we need to look for? As i can see that some of 4.9 bosch sensors are cheaper than others.

Part number; 0258007351

I think it's 4.2

Thank you.

I've found that ECUs starting with 4B.. 0906018  are much cheaper than 8N..  (3/4x times in my country)

Is it because they do not support wideband o2?

They've been used is passat b5 / audi a4.

Okay sorry.. so sad i cant edit the posts.

4B has different boot and they are not waterproof, hence that they cant be used

I got the AJQ too, I tuned it myself and had the AFR checked during APK(yearly inspection). Went from 180HP to 215, and stock torque to arround 335Nm. Running at 1 BAR boost.

What you could do is buy a 3 inch downpipe with 2 O2 sensor inserts. Then buy a gauge set with O2 sensor so you can monitor.

The difficult route would be a complete conversion where you need a new ECU, new cable harness and sensor. The improvement would be the possibility to tune it based on AFR values.
