Title: Me7.1.1 ktag issues
Post by: markhodges78 on December 18, 2021, 09:30:32 AM
I am trying to do a full backup of a me7.1.1 4Z7907551R ecu with ktag.. I start the process by selecting my ecu me7.1.1 vag HWI (P48) Ktag starts to identify ecu and this is what it returns

Identifying ECU ...
Recognized Plugin: BOSCH ME7.5 VAG HW I (P48)
Selected PlugIn: BOSCH ME7.1.1 VAG HW I (P50)

Now obviously I know its an ME7.1.1 because it says so on the cover and the lay out of board matches the photo on ktag. But I go back and select BOSCH ME7.5 VAG HW I (P48) and begin doing a backup again after the backup was completed and I named the file to save to I get a message

The checksum is corrupt send file to programmer

any ideas why ktag is identifying ecu as the wrong ecu ?
The ecu works fine in the car and this is what me7_95040 is returning when I read eeprom

Ver: 1.31
Com Port: 3
Baud Rate: 10400
Opening COM3 ... OK
Initiating communication ... OK
ECU ID response: 4Z7907551S
                 2.7L V6/5VT     G
                 0020
                 SoftCod: 07712, WSC: 00530
Reading EEPROM .............................................................. OK
File saved
Closing COM3

And this is what eepromtools returns from the read

EEPROM Status:
- Type: ECU_eeprom
- Version: Immo3
- VIN: WAULD64BXXXXXXXXX (Audi 2003 - A6 96-04, Neckarsulm, Germany; Mlada Boleslav)
- SKC: 03702
- Immobiliser: On
- Checksum: OK
- Size: 512bytes
- Cluster Code: C1 1E 1F 2B 5A F0 5B
- P0601 DTC: not set
- Immo ID: AUZ7Z0B2217815
- Softcoding ID: 7712
- Tuner Tag: Not Set
- Flash Programming (successful): 1
- Flash Programming (attempts): 1

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Mark

They still have a issue with their protocol I have a message into mr. spaghetti, and he sent me the fix. If you have a clone youre boned, attached is the actual fix for legit tools

ok so after adding that file to the update folder it has now made all my vag protocols grayed out so I cant even look at pin outs are anything.... so Im assuming I have a clone  :-\

did you pay $3k+ for the tool, activations and year subs? lol

So you're using a clone tool 6 years out of date. Good luck with that.

Are clone tools unheard of on this fourm? Not allowed ? Just wondering because.. I've seen tool of other clone tools on here and didnt know they wernt allowed

None said they are not allowed. You just won't get any help from anyone.

Oh ok gotcha...  let me ask you this I was able to read my eeprom with me7_95040 if I ground the boot pin inside the ecu can I then write immo off with me7_95040?

Try reading it in boot mode, if it works, then it should also write in boot mode.

It worked I was able to read in boot immo the bin then write bin back only challenge was once I turned the switch on and started the process I had to unground the boot pin

Cool! Yes, the bootpin has two uses. After a few seconds data appears on it. For that reason, you either use a resistor of appropriate value which can be left connected or unground the pin before the data appears on the pin and the ecu crashes.

I still wish I knew why the cloned ktag would read and write everything except the eeprom  non the less I have the immo off now I would like to use the nefmoto software but I have to do more research im not sure which cable to get the cable I have now has the ch340 chip and wont work with the nefmoto software...

What is your final goal? To remap just this ecu or others? Clones can be good, but for a hobby.

I guess just this ecu as the whole reason I got the ktag was to turn off the immo due to a failing cluster but down the road who knows I may need to replace the ecu so being able to clone the ecu would be good. Now the seller said I could send the ktag back but if there's nothing wrong with the ktag which that could be a possibility because I have a 5P083C eeprom which I have read that they are a pain to work with.. I do have other vehicles that are early 2000 which I may be able to use the ktag on...as for the ecu in question I've also tried the nefmoto software but my cable is a ch340 which wont work and I'm having trouble locating 1 that I think will work ...

Any way thanks for any recommendations and yes this is soly for the use of hobie

I'd keep it and collect a few other el cheapo cables. You never know which one will come to your rescue.  I play with my ecu a lot , so I wired it up to have boot mode by flipping a switch in the engine bay. Flashing then takes only 3 minutes using galletto.

Lol I did the exact same thing with a switch in the engine bay with me7_95040.exe and that's how I was finally able to get a read with boot mode....
Could you recommend a cheap cable that will work with nefmoto software I have looked but really having trouble identifying what will work I've found some that say FT232RL but not sure if it will work or if the FT232RL chip is programmable,  also if theres any other el cheapo cables you could recommend it would be appreciated... I'm not gonna lie trying different things this and that and getting it to work is kinda addictive.

I have used a blue kkl cable that came with vcds lite on ebay and also the hex + can cable that came with the full  vcds clone. They both have ft232 chips. The latter needs older vcp drivers installed. If you don't have those cables, a cheap ft232 should work. I have not used nefmoto as it crashes with st10 7.1.1, but in boot mode galletto has never crashed for about 50 flashes so far. I have not looked at using the galletto cable as a ft232 kkl cable for nefmoto, but it might be possible if you investigate further. So my 2 cents worth is to get a cheap ft232 and a galletto cable. Always flash in boot mode with your switch using galletto and a crc corrected bin.
