Title: Saleae Logic Analyzer logs of different communication connections
Post by: Tony@NefMoto on April 28, 2011, 10:27:15 PM
This is a selection of communication logs of starting slow init and fast init communication connections with a 2001.5 Audi S4 MBox ECU. You will need to use the Saleae software to view the logs.

The logs include:
-VCDS 10.6
-NefMoto 1.7.1.0
-MonoScan 2.2.1
-Lemmiwinks
-Unisettings
-Torque for Android via ELM 327

All of the logs were created using a Saleae Logic - http://www.saleae.com

All of the logs are attached to this post.

Very cool Tony, how do you like that device?  Looks fairly easy to use?

We have some serious logic analyzers at work, im scared to touch them though :)  Our engineers are surprisingly nice about "borrowing" equipment since I do all the beta stuff for them :)  I just dont have a clue how to operate the ones we have.

FYI i downloaded the software to the site Tony linked, you can load the logic data files to see it easy that way.

I really like the Saleae, it is very easy to use, but $150 is more then I would like to spend.

I also looked at the Openbench Logic Sniffer which is about $50, but it has a limited sample size.

The Saleae streams the data over USB so you can have a HUGE sample size.

Almost all of these logic analyzers have a voltage range of +/- 5v, so to log the OBD communication, you need a couple resistors to make a voltage divider, to bring the voltage down from 12v to 5v.
