I am trying to read this ecu on the bench, but the bench harness I have isnt powering up the ECU when I have 12volts hocked up
Ecu is a med7.5 out of a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L non turbo

Maybe it's hocked up wrong? Check voltage @ the connector?

Common sense would say to check for voltage at the last point before whatever you're using connects to the ecu.

You cant read ecu without immo off. If you open ecu and do "immo off" you can read and write via obd on the table. Only way without modifing eeprom is read bin in bootmode. Ecu on table should taking ~0.2A of current. Check connections... you should have chance to connect with ecu by VCDS. You must connect ignition signal to +12.

Would mpps read when it's in boot mode? I'll also check that link out. Thank you

Use galetto 1260 for bootmode and a modified ftdi cable (edited serial number) ground bootpin with resistor for 8-10 seconds then read/write
