Hey gang. Go easy on me, I'm not typically a numbskull and could use a review of this file. I was given this file a few years ago but the benevolent Daz (R.I.P) and have used it successfully once or twice. But the last couple times I have tried to use it, it writes fine, no errors, nothing strange at all.
Write flash, toggle ignition start car and it's GREAT. ---> However, the next time I cycle the key I lose ECU comms all together. Check engine light goes missing. No talking to ECU via OBD. I am able to backtrack and by removing the ECU and disconnecting it for a few seconds and reconnecting-- if I quickly connect to the ECU RIGHT WHEN I turn the key on it will connect and I can write a different file.
Car will also start that one time, then cycle ignition again and no comms.
I used the slick little binary checker tool stickied here and it says it found 4 errors!

Does anyone have a minute to glance of this and see if the problem is obvious?
Mucho Gracias my friends, ...
cheers
Robert

Nobody? Bueller..?

No love?  I’ve tried the ME7sum tool but I can’t get it to output any corrected .bin.
I probably don’t understand how it works.

Me7sum is command line tool, there's no graphical interface. You must run it in command prompt "me7sum name of the file.bin name of fixed file.bin"

Try this, should be ok.

C:\Users\ Cool \Desktop>me7check 559ecorr.bin
==============================================================================
me7check v1.08 (c) mki, 06/2004-04/2011
Checking file 559ecorr.bin (size=1048576)
Reading Version Strings...
-> Bootrom Version = 06.02
-> EPK = 42/1/ME7.1.1/5/8001.07//23h/Dst03o/040800//
-> Contents of ECUID data table:
   - '0261206846'         (SSECUHN)
   - '1037360170'         (SSECUSN)
   - '4D0907559E  '       (VAG part number)
   - '0002'               (VAG sw number)
   - '4.2L V8/5V      '   (engine id)
-> Contents of ECUID data table:
   - 'HW_MAN004'

-> No errors found. File is OK.   *********************

I’ll try it thanks!

I did get the output to sort of work elevated to admin; but the file kept coming up empty/ 2kb size. Obviously I was doing something wrong...
