So I have an ecu I got free with some parts that won’t do anything but idle. I was told the following

The ecus is shot, its a common problem with the wideband 1.8t ecus when the o2 sensor wires are shorted out. May not be a problem on your car but the original car that the modified ecu is out of had some kind of short on the o2 sensor circuit and fired the ecu.

Is it salvageable or just a paperweight now

This could be easily fixed with providing external ground for the throttle pedal or second o2 as they share ground at the pcb

better at ecu side imo

So would the ecu have to be installed in the car?  Also currently unable to read the ecu with Nefmoto, not even a basic read
