ok, i feel really lost on this one.
i cannot get either mpps (clone) or x17 to flash edc16u31 over obd.

mpps will read ecu ok but when loading tuned file it asks "continue programming?" i click yes and it says "internal hardware error". so obviously something is incorrect but im not sure what it is.
x17 just does not communicate with the ecu at all.

both tools only have the 2.0l edc16u31 option listed. mine is 1.9l u31.

car is 2005.0 mk4 jetta, bew (pd) engine code.

maybe someone can shed some light? does it just not work and im stuck bdm'ing each and every time?

thank you as always sir. never had to use slow speed. didnt really know it made a difference. only ever used normal for over obd and fast for on the bench flashing.

thats a negative on that solution. mpps still says internal hardware error.
edit: hmm, so it has something to do with the mod file. original will flash ok. well, on the bench it says "conditions not correct" so at least its attempting to flash.

Is this all OBD on the bench or is it actually in the car?

both. i finally figured out the internal hardware error happens using the tuned file after exporting from ols.
i tried flashing a random tune from some guy on the other end of the internet and it would flash and then crap out part way through. this was on the bench. i finally just said screw it and moved on.
