Ok so I'm getting ready to immo-off my ecu following the procedure on here. Randomly however one of the cables I have is authentic Ross-tech (still have access to ebay one with the correct FTDI base). So my question is, can the genuine ross-tech cable do the immo-off through ross-tech software or do I still need to bench flash the immobilizer out?

(please note, at this point I only have an ecu with unknown pin/skc, I will be receiving a gauge cluster separately at a later time, assumably without pin/skc as well)

To be honest from my reading I couldn't find anything about immo-off from VCDS (and from my understanding ross-tech is against that) which is why I'm on this site in the first place. But a friend told me the VCDS has immo-off check box, just trying to find the truth from those who have actually used the software. I'm not going to waste my time installing and playing with it if the answer is no obviously.

PS - This is my first VAG car, hence the seemingly retarded question :p

There is no check box for immo-off. Think of the legal ramifications of offering something like that.

Ok thank you, I didn't think it had one. I will use the cheap ebay cable for my purposes then.
