Are your checksums correct?

Have you run it through ME7Check?

Sounds like bad checksums.

Will do that, however: even the original bin did not work. Tried three bins which ran successfully before this trouble started.

RSA signature failure found

Does this explain the problems? Any suggestion where to dig deeper?

Hmmm.

I wonder if I miss something I'm supposed to do after bench flashing.
Somebody wrote something about security reset (19 minutes key-on?)  and throttle adaptation.

I do not find a write-up for these. Am I looking with the wrong keywords?

Ladies and Gentlemen -

we have a START!!!

I should have known that flashing would need some time for negotiation between ECU and car. Guessing about what I read here and there, I simply let the car sit with ignition on for about five minutes. Then - as if nothing had happened.

Now back to more exciting things - the tune is not finished...

Alrighty!

After a visit in my local hardware store and a couple of hours soldering and testing, I can flash the ECU on the bench using a Galletto cable.
I now officially declare this ECU UNBRICKED.

However, the engine still won't start, and I cannot connect using the NEfmoto software once I connect the ECU in the car (quick and dirty - just the inner ECU case and the two main connectors.)
Something I do miss, hmmm...

So what did I do?
1) Boot mode (pin 24 to ground through 6k) - check
2) Galetto <ECU DATA> .... result "ECU number not found"
3) <Open file>
4) Select bin (my last working one)
5) <Download file>
6) 1 ... 100%
7) Unclear Italian comments that I should switch off the ignition for 10 seconds, ok I did that
Cool Galetto closes the ECU and declares it is happy.
9) Shut down the 12V supply
10) Disconnect all crocs
11) Run to the car with a phony smile on my face
12) Connect ECU
13) Turn ignition key and try to start.
14) Engine turns, no start.
15) Clench fist, remove ECU and back to bench.

I remember reading something about problems with flash but no start somewhere.

Back to googling the forum...

I just wanted to say thanks for the write up it saved my ass yesterday when flashing an a box. I went to get out of the car and my foot hit the obd2 plug.... I didn't bring my bench flashing setup with me so I did boot mode from the battery with no other power hooked. (Battery is brand new 13.7v output according to mpps) grounded pin 24 hooked battery back up and wrote no problem! Thanks agan!
