Hi there,

First off I'm super excited to find a forum like this, as it seemed like there was no open-source community for the VAG ECUs. So thanks to everyone on here, I hope I to learn a lot and I'll try my best to contribute.

A little about me: I drive a 2001 A4 1.8T FrontTrak, 5-speed with single mass clutch, Carbonio Cold air intake, and APR stage 1. Obviously, I've already forked over the $$$ for the APR software, so I'm planning on finding a used ecu to switch out before I start messing with settings. But I'm curious, is it possible to read APR's software? They claim on their site that it's encrypted, so I'm guessing not, but I figured I'd ask.

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. Could you please clarify though. Are you saying that it can be read, but it's still encrypted, and not understandable? Or are you saying that the encryption can be broken?

The code is changed in the ECU so everything is not where it should be.

If you want to learn, then start from scratch with the 2nd ECU.
