i built a 16V G60 engine using an OBD1 ABA bottom end, 9A 2.0 16V pistons, 1.8 16v head. i have a digifant 1 setup for it but i was roaming around my garage and stumbled on an engine harness and ECU that i started modding for an MK2 1.8T swap. Im curious as to if i may be able to retrofit this fuel system to my 16v G60 and make it run smoothly and be reliable. i've thought about it alot and i cant see any loop holes in the idea but i figured id toss the idea out there and see if theres anything i may be missing.

The main points would be to make sure the Crank and Cam sensors that ME7 expects to see are present on the 16V and "sync'd" correctly.  The rest would be pretty easy IMO.

You'd have to use individual coils as well.  And to be on the safe side the CLT and IAT sensors from the ME7 car.

do it, i run my mk3 vr6 on me7.1 and i love it. very easy to swap and works with the oe cluster and fully tuneable.

Well the block im using is an ABA block so it has the trigger wheel on the crank and i figure i could modify the distributor to have a single window hall sensor setup for a cam sensor. I've built a fair share of AAN 20VT engines and i have one of the tuna can distributor covers from an early engine before audi decided to add the true cam sensor. adding the IAT sensor and the MAP sensor seems fairly easy but getting rid of things like the N75 valve and the N249 valve plus getting the ECU dialed in is my main concern.

not very difficult at all to tune the car, its the physical connectivity and proper sensor synchronization which will be the difficult task in my eyes.
