For checks (and to setup friends so they can check codes etc), I have been using Elm327 bluetooth adapters (and Torque or similar).
I found Bluetooth connectivity often sketchy. Saw WiFi adapter and bought one.
Support OBD-II protocols:
ISO15765-4 (CAN)
ISO14230-4 (KWP2000)
ISO9141-2
J1850 VPW
J1850 PWM

Plugged in, and Android phone found and established Wifi right away.

IIRC (will check) it show up as V-Link. Will also check if it is an ad-hoc network (likely not since Android does not support ad-hoc?) or has an actual IP address (found one ad saying:

IP: 192.168.0.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Port: 35000

Now the questions:

1) what software can I use to access diagnostic information with the Wifi adapter? I assume Torque is strictly bluetooth based?
2) Found DashCommand, but not sure if it works with my adapter using Wifi on Android. Found that Android does not support 'ad-hoc' wirless?
3) Can I at least use the wifi OBD2 adapter for some basic diagnostic with my windows PC?
