Misfire detection in Bosch Me7.x
« on: November 23, 2014, 06:37:38 AM »
What inputs (sensors, parameters, etc.) is Bosch using to detect 'misfires' in general and cylinder specific misfires in particular?

It measures the engine rpm's very closely. If one cylinder takes more time to complete it's work cycle it's misfiring. It's not that simple of course, there are many other variables to take into consideration also but that's the basic way. This has been very thoroughly explained in the "Bosch System Strategy" PDF that can be downloaded from this forum.
