Hi guys,
I have the following problem:

Car is a EU S4 with D-Box ECU and M-Box Software with Map Switch and NLS Code.

The car runs fine for 3-6 days (200-600km). Then the engine stalls and does not start anymore. With Ignition on, the EPC lamp flickers hardly visible. When it is possible to connect with VCDS, it shows ~10Volts. Other ECUs like Instrument Cluster show ~12.5V. I could flash the ECU in this state, but the engine did also not start after that. In the next morning the the car started without any issue.

This happend two times now...

What could be the problem?

Regards,
Patrick

Have you checked all the ground connections and eng harness for good continuity?

This is unrelated to flashing and you have a hardware issue.  Measure voltage at ECU, measure resistance of feeds. Usual things.

Hi,
today the problem occured again. I changed the ECU, but the engine did also not start with the spare ecu.
Therefore it must be hardware. I will check ground connections.

Thank you very much for your answers!

Check if your car has a ECM Relay in the engine compartiment, and make sure it is not corroded inside.

That was also my first thought, but I just checked the wiring diagram. Seems that there is no relay.
Terminal 30 via red connector in E-Box, Terminal 31 via ground connection front right (I have to check, what is meant by this) and Terminal 15 seems to come from fuse 232 and supplies the ignitioin coils, Brake- and Clutch switch, cruise control lever and at latest the ECU.

I will check the ground connection first, maybe there is corrosion.

Hi,
the engine cranks normally, but does not start.

I had a look at the ground point and the cap nut was loose. Hopefully this was the issue. We will see...
