I bought a spare ECU to practice with so I don’t ruin my original one. I copied my original ECU and loaded it on my spare just as a test and I keep getting an alarm for improper coding. After checking the coding it is showing no ASR/ESP but my car has ASR/ESP! The ECU I got as a spare is 4B0 907 551 K and I’m flashing a standard M-box tune to it. I tried to change the coding to read ASR/ESP but I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if the function just isn’t supported on this spare ECU.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I’m using a Ross-Tech dual k cable and VCDS to try and change the coding. Currently coded as 06612 and I need it to be 06712

all of those 7.1 ecus are identical hardware wise as long as they are not 7.1.1 or 512k

Yes I checked your list of compatibility for S4-A6 ECU’s and it was on the list so I figured I’d be good. I tried to change coding in 01-engine by using login 11463 and then tried to change the coding from 06612 to 06712 and it accepts my input but doesn’t change the coding. I’m very new to messing with these ECUs but I’ve been working on cars for over 25 years. I’d really like to figure this out because I’m very excited at the possibility of making my own tune but I have no desire to remove ASR/ESP since I don’t plan on going completely crazy with this car.

Thanks for the reply.

I was apparently trying to code it wrong I was trying to code it 06712 and I needed to code it 06711. Everything is working correctly now. I swapped this engine in my A4 from an A6 so I thought it still had to be coded for the A6, but it needed to be coded for an A4.

Thank you for trying to help me with this.
