Instrument cluster functionality

I have my whole car pretty well stripped out with the old cluster dangling ziptied to the remaining structure. What am I dependent on the dash to supply? Would everything still run correctly with it removed and i could develop my own alternative instrument cluster?

Alternator charging and vehicle speed signal IIRC.
