Hi, I've recently installed a BHW 2.0L 8V PD TDI engine into a 2010 C6 A6 with the original 3.0tfsi 6HP-19A.  The engine was originally paired with a 5HP-19 transmission.  With the original tune in the ECU, I had in the TCU, the codes 001556 - Incorrect Software Version, and 006229 - Software Version Monitoring.

By fiddling around with various parameters borrowed from a 3.0TDI C6 file, I found that changing FrmMng_dMulinfo2_0_C, FrmMng_dMulinfo2_1_C, FrmMng_dMulinfo2_2_C, and FrmMng_trqMulinfo2_3_C to match the 3.0TDI values got rid of 006229, which then gave me 006273 - Missing Message Acceleration Request, and 006231 - Load Signal Error Message from ECU.

Changing FrmMng_stCANVer_C after that from 0 to 6 (matching 3.0TDI file) got rid of 006273, and 006231 became intermittent instead of constant, leaving me with just 001556 and intermittent 006231.

I have a feeling that knowing the TCU measuring block group 012 values from a 3.0T ECU may be the key, and I'm not sure if FrmMng_stCANVer_C is set correctly either, but I haven't been able to find a C6 3.0T damos or ols file anywhere.

From looking at http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=20887.0, it looks like the petrol ECU equivalents of the variables I need to change are CANVERS, CWGC, FMOTC, and MDNORM, and maybe also CWKONFZ, however they're all named differently in the EDC16U31 DAMOS.  I think CANVERS is FrmMng_stCANVer_C, MDNORM is FrmMng_trqMulinfo2_3_C, and maybe CGWC are FrmMng_dMulinfo2_x_C, but I'm not sure what the equivalents of FMOTC and CWKONFZ are.

Does anyone know if I'm on the right track? Or do I need to look at some other variables?

As of right now, the vehicle does run and drive, but I only have 4th gear and reverse in the transmission (limp mode).

Alright I was able to figure it out on my own.  The key was editing FrmMng_dMulinfo2_0_C, FrmMng_dMulinfo2_1_C, FrmMng_dMulinfo2_2_C, and FrmMng_trqMulinfo2_3_C to match the values in TCU measuring block 12 with the original ECU hooked up.  I hooked up the old ECU temporarily with a jumper harness to get them.

There are still bugs to work out of course, but I now have all 7 gears working, and I think the most difficult part is over.  Probably a 3.0 TDI 6HP would be a better transmission to start with, but they don't exist where I live, so that would have to be imported.  I know the TCU has a JHM tune on it right now, so I will probably look at getting that removed/flashed back to stock.

006273 - Missing Message Acceleration Request

This error may not occur if the original engine software is suitable for this chassis.
Диз.двигат.+
BLB,BNA,BRF,
BRE,BVG

This error often occurs with 6HP swaps.
It doesn't affect operation.
It doesn't appear in some versions of the gearbox software.
We haven't yet found a way to disable it.

Changing FrmMng_stCANVer_C after that from original BHW (7) to 6 (matching 3.0TDI file) got rid of the 006273 Missing Acceleration Request code.  BLB/BNS/BRF/BRE/BVG were never optioned with a 6HP-19, only CVT, so using values from those ECUs still don't work.  In my case, I got the version numbers I needed to get rid of all codes by connecting the original gas ECU and reading the values in the TCU measuring blocks group 12.

I did try loading a full BRE BDM flash to my ECU, but most things were not any better.  I already figured out how to make coolant fan control, cruise control, auto HVAC, and alternator control work with the BHW flash.  The only major thing left is starter control.  The tables for it are there, but I may need actual BRE ECU hardware, as I don't know if the BHW ECU has the pins for the starter control hooked up internally.

Is there any cost-effective way to read/write the TCU? I will need some custom tuning to the TCU to make the most out of this car.  It IS a drivable car though, quite happy with the progress so far.  The shift points right now are not ideal, so I've been driving it mostly in manual mode.
