Hallo guys.

İ bought me a m3.8.3 ecu and i have a tuning file from my 3.8.2 for k04 turbo upgrade. Can i flash the file from my 3.8.2 to my 3.8.3 or must there be a 3.8.3 file with maps from my tuning file with it?

The older ones are not done much, off the top of my head - are they both OBD flashable? You had a look at the two files and is the data offset same, similar, massively out? What tools are you using? What are the ecu codes for those more experienced in these ones and cross flashing? Etc - "Can't make bricks without clay!" as they say - data req'd!

Actually - "bricks" is probably not a good analogy for this forum!  Wink

the new ecu is a 06a906018ar, so flashable via obd. The old one was a 06a906018d, not flashable via obd. I used the winmerge to compare the original files to see the differences and I have to say, each record is different Sad.

But as I said, I actually have a finished file for a 1.8t k04 for the 06a906018d, i.e. m3.8.2. It is a shame if I have to go back to the tuner for my new control unit. I would like to learn it myself, but I have no starting point with which to start learning. I found a file that is in German and looked at it with TunerPro. Since I live in Germany I understand the language well, but as I said, what should you do with a formula if you don't know where to go.

Well, the older none "E" Motronic stuff is somewhat covered a bit more on ecuconnections, there's plenty of peeps on here that have done older M stuff but it's hit or miss if you get more detailed info for 1.8T. Most, at least what is available on this forum, will suggest going ME7, parts can be had from local scrap/junk yards fairly cheaply - there's a few of us that have done old skool conversions where they're a bit of a mish-mash of parts and mods to suit - generally using none ME engines with ME7 hard/software though!

Then you've got the entire ecu and a full forum at your disposal- this gives a break-down of the evolutions;

ME7 FR/FS to spend months on if you go that route;

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

OR - someone will tell you exactly what to do in, 3....2....1...

The right way should be to swap 06A908018R ECU in your car (immo match). Then using a definition for each ECU/SW just migrate maps. Here in Nefmoto forum is good info about those topics. In general M382 and M383 are not cross flashable. Inclusive ECU strategics are something different.
