So i tried to write map on my golf 4 1.8t with a kess clone, no errors when writing but car doesn't start.
I used nyet me7check and gave no errors on the bin i tried to write. Now i cant write anything with kess, i get wake up error and in recovery it says error and asks if i want to continue. Also i tried to connect with vcds to engine and i cant.
Is the ecu completly dead or can i flash it in bootmode with galletto cable? (And if it's dead, what did i do wrong?)

* I attached the bin i tried to write and what i got from checksum

The file is missing checksum blocks and it looks like a multiple attempt of running it through the 2 step auto patch scrypt. Either way the file has code patches in the wrong spot, overwriting checksum blocks and most likely the cause of the ecu brick . Ive ported your files calibrations to a virgin original file of the same software version. Also, included is the original hex and a2l if you want to take a look. Ether way the ported file is safe to write with all checksums good to go. Although it seems you may have bricked your ecu and will need to flash it on the bench in boot mode. Lucky for you kess supports boot mode flashing so you should be able to recover it without an issue.

Some things to note:
Deletes are done wrong (error class bits changed only, prokon and eskonf sare stock.) Looks to be a rear o2 sensor delete attempt. If you actually unplug the downstream o2 sensors with this tune you will lose long term fuel trims. Its only hiding codes now its not actually configured properly for the missing sensors.
Crackle pop attempt won't really work as minimum ignition angle table is stock and only optimum timing and base timing changed. Also, changing base timing will cause massive timing sways that you will feel in the car too.
As far as the actual calibrations... meh, it shouldn't hurt anything... Timing at full throttle seems to be a bit aggressive so you may wanna be sure to run high octane fuel. The file will not have 2 step as I only ported the calibrations of your original file.
Lastly, I hold no responsibility for the calibrations of these files as they are not mine and I really don't agree with some of the changes.
Hope this helps, If you have any questions feel free to ask on this thread.

Thank you so much, i appreciate it a lot. The only thing i modified was for the crackles actually, everything else was already done before me (think that's why it bricked too). Will look through the a2l and hex files. maybe i can learn from it. thanks again, i'll try to write it

Use galletto if the kess clone doesn't work in boot mode.
My clone won't work on k line. Some need mods on the board apparently.

Doesn't work only in bootmode or any k line functions not working? Also, what pcb is it green red purple or black? I have 2 euro black pcb (and one real) both work fine on any k line operations I've used it on.

I will test it well tomorrow and let you know with pics. Unfortunately it was the first flashing device I got and it did not work with boot mode but was OK over CAN. It is a red one from china. I had planned to use it for my DSG too, but I'm looking at getting a minidsg reader instead, hopefully those work on my 02E 300 011 CK

Good to know.

I just tested the Kess and the Kline works to get ID. I couldnt actually download the flash because it tells me to use protocol 120 instead, which is CAN. I tried a few non CAN protocols for ME7.1.1 and it keeps doing the same.

But, bootmode is no good at all. It does send a pulse to the ecu but then goes back to the ID/Read menu or the main menu and the box often freezes up and needs to be disconnected from the USB.

Did you remove the 0k ohm resistor on the back of the ecu so it goes into boot mode?

Yes, always works with Galletto and Mpps v13 boot, never with Kess. I tried earlier software versions, but same result.
