First: Mods please move this if you feel it belongs elsewhere. I simply put it here in hopes it would get the most visibility and help others.

Not so much tuning, however it will be applicable to me tuning my own Q5 soon.

So basically I have not been able to find much concrete evidence as to what injectors flow what amount and what I should use for my EA888.2 BT build.
In this case I bought about 5 different sets, and sent them to get flow tested to actually find out.

This community has been a massive help for me, and I truly appreciate everyone and their help to me and others.

Because of this,  I will share what I found below in hopes it may benefit someone in the future.




0261500076 - Standard Injector Used on EA888.2 Motors (2009-2016 A4,Q5,A3 and others)

0261500645 - MK7 Golf R Injector that many people say to use when going big turbo. I was satisfied and thought there must be better.

0261500609 - Audi RS3/TTRS Injector. This is where things start looking promising, significantly more flow than both the MK7R and Stock.


You'll notice the injector stroke and pulse length are different at each pressure. This is simply how they were tested under a regular Bosch HDEV 5.1 test plan.
Whats most important is the % difference at each test level between the different injectors.

I ordered 2 others, injectors for the RS7 motor (these are Continental injectors I found out after ordering so I wasn't going to try them because I heard drive current
is different), as well as Ford Focus RS Injectors. I have a strong feeling the Focus RS Injectors would flow even more than the RS3's, however the diameter of the solenoid
cylinder is larger than that of the Audi injectors which would require porting the injector opening to a larger size.

I hope this can be of use to people.

I have the original test plan pdf's if anyone may need them for some reason, I just graphed the data to make it easier to compare.

Thanks for sharing - interresting indeed. To reflect - not always required to change DI - reason of that is quite wide window for injection you can use - if to simplify let's say 300 degrees.  With primitive math arround 12ms pulse for 4krpm as example. 12ms is hell a lot for EA888 Gen3. Did benchmark day ago - stock DI holds 3 bar absolute boost on E85 and lambda 1 and not reaching whole stock limited SOI-EOI on Simos 18. MPI is different story - verry narrow window where 980+ helps.

Moral of above - do not hurry upgrade HW until reached it's limits. If you do not know where it is - you can ask in places like here Smiley

I won't swap injectors until I have tuned to the highest capacity I can reach with the stock ones, however I know the stock ones will be burnt out at around 420CHP.
I'm aiming for around 500-550CHP so Injector upgrade was in my sights already.

Injector Opening Time is an interesting idea though. I suppose I really don't want to play with that unless I have to though.

Are you sure about that?
First injection system of BOSCH was CIS - Continues Injection System.
It was using a big diameter flap on a lever and on the opposite side of a lever there was a plunger. More flap movement because of air entering the engine - more fuel.
Guess what was injection window of this IDI system?
It was spraying all the time to all cylinders.

Do you want to try spraying fuel in DI engine after spark occurred for a given cylinder?
Fortunately it is not possible with today injection systems.
