I've got a 1988 80 quattro that I installed a '99 ABZ into... I purchased an ECU from a '98 euro S8 on bad advice from someone in the UK who said they could be re-coded with VCDS to work with manual transmissions (which they cannot). So now I have two fairly useless (at the moment) ECUs. The plan is to write the S6 Plus file to a chip and have one of the two M5.4 boxes socketed so I can actually drive the car, while in the meantime trying to rewrite the ABZ file to remove the automatic transmission coding by comparing the S6+/S6/S8 manual files. Hopefully I'm not chasing a needle in a haystack, but, I'll be damned if I'll fork over $550 to 034 for their chip.
Did you ever solved this? I have a fried with an A8 AKG who removed the auto transmission and installed manual one. Now we tried with different software, including S6plus, but ABS/ESP are not working. I would like to have some clues to adapt the original automatic file to work like a manual one.
