This is where I get confused. Everyone says rs4 is immo-3, but NA cars from 2000-2001 are immo-2. If I were going to retrofit immo into a north american car I'd probably go immo-2. My experience with ROW car's is very limited.
I've been trying to get you to confirm and show how/why you think N/A B5's are immo2 equipped (although latently), rather than immo3 equipped like the ROW B5 RS4's.  Did you ever get around to taking picks of the back of your 'immo2 equipped N/A B5 S4 cluster'?

Are the ROW B5 S4's (not RS4's) immo2 or immo3?  If they're immo3 as well, I can't imagine that Audi equipped every other B5 with immo3, and latently equipped the NA B5 with immo2.  They would have no reason to change compared to ROW cars, especially since immo is not even active in NA cars and was just left in there anyways.

I don't have a b5 immo-cluster. I have an 01 c5 immo cluster, and under the EXTRA field it lists the immo-ID but not a vin (thus my conclusion of immo-2)

I'll pull the cluster from the car tomorrow and take it apart. I have a non-immo cluster already pulled apart, shouldn't be difficult to get some comparison photos. It's just so damn cold I hate being outside any longer than necessary.

Ah, well B5 could definitely be different either way.  And if you don't have a verified immo3 cluster to compare it with, then it's kinda pointless anyways.  I'd say not to go to the effort of removing it in the cold.

We have enough European tuners in here that know exactly which immo their B5 S4's and RS4's have, so verification shouldn't be tough.

Who knows, I might be wrong about it being immo-2. It would make sense for it to be 3 assuming ROW car's of the same era are. I was basing this solely on the lack of a separate immobilizer box and lack of a vin in the extra field. You've renewed my curiousity, I'll definitely be pulling the cluster tomorrow.

What immo does the European B5 S4's have?  How about the European B5 RS4's, what immo do they have?

I know, I was generalizing based on the year, and what generation immo would have been equipped if available. My observations are based primarily on c5's, which I was under the impression were 2. However I can't imagine that to be true if it's confirmed ROW b5's were immo-3.

Has anyone pulled the trim off their steering columns (b5 guys) to see if the RFID receiver coil is installed? I know on my 2000 a6 it was, and that didn't come with immo (although now it does).
