Hi!
Today i broke this ECU and leaving my friend without car (((

We tried to read flash by nefmoto with no luck - getting "communication error"
when we try to put his ECU (8L0906018N - 512Kb narrow, no vvt) to my car (06A906032DR 1024 Kb, vvt) with same result
after playing with speeds we can read the file, and try to write new file at the same speed, but getting error about wrong memory layout (i choose 29F400) and after that nefmoto says something about problems with erasing and custom chip on this board. i choose cancel and we swapped ECUs back. And after that car wont start and getting the DTC 16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal

So i have two questions. Maybe stupid but very important for me

1. Is it possible to fix this ECU? and how? immo off and flash in bootmode?
2. If not what ecu # can we use to flash it with 8L0906018N file ?

thanks a lot!

Is the ECU stock or tuned?

If its tuned does it have an encryption board? A pic of the inside will help.

After that we can talk further about recovery.

This is not correct, may of the soldered in chips can be read.

You can allways read even with encription board because the process read the contente as the MCU read it, but you can´t write (you receive an error about 3~8% process) because the board can´t allow

very strange.. so why these boards called 'encryption' if everyone can read it.. i always thinking that they are installed to read-write protection (copypaste protection)

A long time ago, there was no "KWP2000", "galetto 1260", "MPPS" and other tools to read the memory (with discret flashprom CI)... the only way was unsolder, read in a external programmer  and write and solder it again.
