2.0 TFSI BWJ 240 Idle Misfire
« on: June 21, 2014, 08:19:01 PM »
Hey All,
This isn't really causing me an issue, but i would like to get to the bottom of it.
The car seems to misfire on idle once left for a few minutes and misfire counter kicks in and always registers on the same cylinder.
I have had plugs and coils replaced and also swapped injectors around, the car has also had a carbon clean and still i get misfires on the same cylinder on idle... Any ideas?
I'm hoping that the rod on that piston is not very very slightly bent or something.
Thanks

I had them replaced with the S3 valves as original valves were causing misfires at higher rpm on higher boost due to valve float.

Does it only do it once up to temp? Tried gapping that one plug a little less? A little more dwell time on the coils, maybe?

What was the issue N0ble? I have seen this exact same issue from duff injectors which lead to a melted piston on the same cylinder when running 1.7bar at 460hp..

I've seen a couple of occurrence's where the ecu was at fault on these, swap it out with a known good one to be sure

Why does a bent rod come to mind? Ever ingest water?
