Trying to troubleshoot not being able to connect. MED9.1, clone BDM 100. ECU reports good using VCDS and reads using MPPS. Questions.

1.) Does the ecu need it's own external power (ex. bench flash harness)
2.) I heard it may not work on Windows 7 or 64 bit operating systems. If not, what fault did you get? Just making sure my issue is not operating system related.
3.) I also read some had issues with the software supplied with the unit. I can't find the thread, but I'm using Ver. 3.1.0.1255

Connect pins to ecu board according to documentation, without adapter, pin one to far left with ecu plug facing away.. Click "on" power button, unit clicks quickly and states "12vcc power error or comm error". Check supplied power supply to BDM box, and have 12v+. I also read the clones are prone to poor solder joints, but the board is hard to get out of the case, so wanted to investigate other options first. I've had this damn thing for 6+ months, and looking at the box, I had a feeling this would be an uphill battle. Just found the time to try and figure it out tonight. Smiley

1. No. Not if the BDM unit is supplied 12v.
2. The drivers can't be installed. If you have working win7 x64 drivers, email them to me!
3. I use the dimsport software.

If I suspect the BDM unit's ability to provide 12v+, can I use a bench flash harness, and disconnect the power supply to the BDM? I tried it on another ecu, and when turning the "ign" on the bench harness, I saw the green led on the box light, whereas it never did before that. I'm also trying on an Audi 9.1 now (because I may have bricked my test ecu Smiley)

Yes, no problem. But fix your drivers first and double check pinout on BDM.

To be sure of BDM pinout, measure where ground is on the ecu and where it is on the BDM. Also, Google. I guess there are a lot of pictures how it should look like. Otherwise I'll make one for you.

Edit: If you relay clicks when you press "ON" in the software, your windows drivers are correctly installed.

Thanks for the responses. Read finally worked. I had to use a bench harness to supply 12v, so I guess the BDM or the power supply that came with it has an issue..
