From soon I'm having issues with timing retardation on my car. MED9 2.0TFSI Leon Cupra 240hp. First I decided its from bad fuel after that i thought its from the tune. But after dealing with that things (tryed 3 different 100RON fuels and logging, and lowered the boost and made the AFR richer). The problem is that the car is pullung back 3 to 6 degrees even with stock file and 100RON fuel on 1-2deg external temp. (aprox 15-20 deg.IAT@ Redline).
The interesting thing is when I started to log and play with the settings in the summer (from then I have the car) I didn't had that big timing retardation even with rised boost and etc. And now in the winter with stock file the car is pulling back the timing.
I changed the plugs, tryed with different coils...different fuels and much more...the problem is mechanical I guess. Car have litle misfires on idle mostly on 3rd cylinder but not registering a fault. From some place in internet I readed for one similar case with RS4 pulling back a lot of timing...after poor dynograph they started to dig and there the problem was caused from carbon bullid up. The intake manifold, ports and vavles were looking prety bad at all.
If anyone here have an idea or had simmilar problems (and solutions) I'll be glad to solve my problem.
Now last thing I'm thinking to do is take off the cylinder head, clean and service everything there (vavles etc). Maybe will combine it with making the K04 hybrid...but first I need to fix timing issues.
I'm attachin log with stock file.

I am thinking the intake valves have carbon on them.

is it a 2008 model ?Do you get misfires around 6000+ or just ignition retardation?

Yes its a 2008 model 240hp. Im allmost sure I dont have missfire issues around 6000rpm but only on hear...i didn't logged that. I tryed with NGK BCP7ES gaped to 0.6mm car runs the same retardation at all and with that plugs the missfires on idle were more. After that I changed them with iridium NJK for the model. I will log for misfires also.

could be multiple things.

1. Intake valves have lots of carbon on them, this engine is known for high carbon build up which then leads to issues.

2. Misfiring at high RPM could also be valve float, once the valves start to age on these engines it isn't unheard of for this to start occurring.

3. It could also be injectors.

I will gonna start with logging for misfires at hight rpm, but whatever is the result the next step is to remove the head. And what about the injectors? How can I understand their condition. In VCDS I'm seeing injection time AFR etc...everything is normal there. Actual AFR on idle, partial and full load is exactly like specified allways.

The injectors can be difficult to diagnose sometimes. It's a pain to do, but swap the injectors around to see if it moves your issue.

I will try to do that, but probably first thing is head removal...refurbish, vavles servicing and making the ventilation with oil catch can (not going to the intake any more). And I'm thinking to change compressor wheel with bigger. I will write here in this thread when I have some news.

so I just finished turboing my 240 and the only thing I have left to do is to retard my timing. I wasnt really sure how to do it and I didnt know how many deg. I should retard it, like 4-5? Im going to be running 8psi. Thanks

Let`s take a long shot here and make the assumption that you are talking about the 240sx? ka24de? If that is the case you are in the wrong topic and maybe in the wrong forum also...This topic is about the leon cupra 240ps. But since i also own a 200sx i could help you by saying that for starters try to use a knock headphone or knock sensor equipment to see if you have any knocking when boost comes...I am sure though that with 8psi you will not see any knocking from this engine but still you should do as i described above.Please do no reply to this topic as this is not for the stock nissan ecu or for a 240sx car.

Funnyest thing is that I own 200sx too .... few ones till now Cheesy ,  all of them 300+whp. So best way is to buy a Nistune software and board and start reading in the Nistune forums Smiley . Stock knock control is a good starting point ( I'm talking about CA18/SR20DET).
About the Seat.... I'm still driving the car like that. Very soon I'm planing to have some time for it and take the head off .

8psi is fuck all. That's almost wastegate pressure on an K04-064. Start again -

Here is one photo where the part of it can be seen. I don't know the brand I bought the car with it...the filter was chinese junk and I replaced it with a HKS one
