How much better? Than what?
If your car barely runs maf plugged in but seems to run "fine" maf unplugged, you have a boost/vacuum leak.

I had this same issue until I replaced the MAF and both o2 sensors.

Please post DTCs and fuel trims.
It isn't clear what you mean by "better" either.

I have been chasing a particular issue for a very long time.
Symptoms: very loud sucking noise from intake, accompanied with very sluggish boost. the boost will build but slowly. throttle response is terrible.
At times the car runs very well and it is instantly noticeable if you are driving the car. The boost seems to follow throttle input very closely and the car is amazing to drive in this state. the sucking noise goes away at the same time. I have swapped throttle bodies, n74s, bypass valves, MAFs, ecus, tunes. the biggest improvement came when I swapped the MAF out but after about a week it went back to terrible.

That is almost 100% certainly an evap or vac leak Again, plug in the maf, log ps_w with a PROPER WOT log, dont just feather into the throttle, its useless. post up any DTCs and LTFTs.

Also, you're absolutely PUKING fuel due to EGT activity. Not a good sign.

Glad to hear that, to me that sounds like I could get a lot better gas mileage.

Is the high EGT due to the stinking amount of knock occurring?
KR is pretty heavy... -14 at one point
