So I started off with a stock M-box making a strong Stg 2+ tune for my buddies AR.

Running great except for whatever reason sometimes in the higher gears (4,5,6) the car throws on the ABS, ride hight, and ESP lights a little bit into the pull and the car slows down.. once letting off the lights go out about 30 sec later.

In the logs I see that the gears are all screwed up.  it thinks 3rd is 2nd, and for on a full pull in 5th, the log shows it starts in 5th but changes to 4th after a few hundred RPM.

He's got big wheels (19" MTM) and I know the AR has a different gearbox... is there something I'm missing?

Thw S4 wiki shows this for the wheels speed:
Code:
Wheel speed sensor
If you have different wheel rolling diameters from stock, and you want to log the correct speed:
AIMVM (0x12A56) - Number of speed pulses per m for signal normalization v

Will this help me?

tested it... and although the speedo was within 1-2 km/h in comparison to the GPS speed, the ECU still thinks it's in a different gear...

Ideas?

I've done a couple ar's with mbox coding and haven't run into this yet.
Have u tried recoding the cluster to match the ecu and or ecu to match the other hardware?

Thanks!  I didn't even check on this thread until now...

I'm assuming I am having this issue because the gearbox in the AR has different ratio's?

Also, if I leave them alone will it effect anything other then what the ECU is seeing?  Does it matter if the gear indication isn't correct for the ECU?

Oh as for the ESP and ABS lights coming on... I think that has something to do with exceeding load limits (MAF, etc) as I had it happen to me last night on my car.

abs/EPC light is for exceeding max maf limit, easy fix @ KFMLDMX in wot column. You have a code sctored in ECU for that if you care to check.

Scale is appropriately high, about 10% more than what you see at WOT in that car, and you will never hit it again in normal situation. Should the maf crap out completely it should still react.

I will hunt the table responsible for vehicle gear indicator in the ECU. There mus be a one row table with ratios of vehicle speed to motor speed that determines the gear in manual ECUs. Obviously S4 has a different ratios there than Allroad due to tranny differences.

Thanks nyet. I just found this in WINOLS myself. Calculating this shouldn't be a huge tasks but if somebody can do that for allroad it would save me few minutes Smiley

Thanks.

It's in tunes section. Few flavors of it from different boxes.

The one above is actually an allroad file, not A6. Exact same I originally had on my car 2001 allroad.
