G'day ladies and gents!

I have recently transplanted a 4.2 V8 40V motor, from a 2004 D3 A8, into a 2000 B5 A4 Quattro. All running through an 01E 6-speed manual.

I utilised the wiring harness from a 2000 C5 S6 (ME7.1) with the ECU from a 2000 European S6 C5 6-speed manual. I was able to retrieve the PIN from my original cluster, then using VCDS, matched the new ECU to my cluster. All running sweet.

I have purchased an instrument cluster from a 2003 C5 RS6, which is IMMO 3. I am unable to retrieve the PIN in the same way I accomplished with my original cluster, which is IMMO 2.

Why are my options here? I have tried everything, with no success.

If it helps, my A4 cluster is D11, while the C5 RS6 item is a D12. I would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Thank you all!

Use K+CAN commander. Version 2.5 will work with the usual KKL cable and I've used this to retrieve SKC's from RS6 clusters.

Thank you for responding.

Is the KKL cable the usual eBay blue VCDS cable?

Thank you.

I've ordered a VAGCOM KKL cable.

I can't seem to locate VAG K+CAN Commander 2.5, all I find are 3.6, 3.9, 4.8, 5.1, 5.5. I'm wondering if any of these will work?

G'day ladies and gents!

I managed to pull the SKC yesterday afternoon. I did use VAG K+CAN Commander 1.4 in the end, with it's own cable.

It was working all along, it showed up just above the mileage panel, kind of greyed out, so I didn't notice it had been showing each time I tried reading the cluster.  Smiley

I'll install it permanently over the weekend, and code it to my ECU and 4 original keys.
