Hi all

I have a 2012 Audi A4 170bhp  CGLC engine code.

I have recently noticed a small issue when driving the car in the 'sport' mode.   Under higher loads and at random RPMs, the car will hesitate for a split second and then the power delivery will resume.  Almost like you have lifted your foot up a tiny bit and put it down again.

It doesnt do it with the traction control on, or fully off.  Only the sport mode.

Couple questions.

Does anyone know if the sport button switches any maps in the ECU.

Has anyone ever heard of these issues before?

I initially thought a over boost, but a couple logs show the MAX overboost would be about 40-50hpa since thats what its logged in.  Being a diesel, im unsure what else to log or what blocks it comes under.  No fault codes either.

Yes, EDC17 has different maps for driving modes. Not sure what experience folk on this forum have with EDC17, but you're probably best referring back to your tuner. I, personally, have very limited EDC17 experience.

Only different maps are Driving wish maps wich won't  couse such behavior. Try to log mean injection actual boost and rail press. Also next run egt at turbo, particulate filter and maf airmass. We had cases that sticking vnt couse similiar behaviour in such engine (yes i now it's not that old). 170 version run on lower lambda and they run a bit more "dirty" then 140hp version.

Perhaps, but if the Sport mode drivers wish requests more torque than the rest, it's likely while trying to produce said desired torque that it'll hit a torque limiter, EGT limiter, smoke limiter etc

Sorry for the late reply.  Missed/forgot about this thread.

Totally stock car in terms of tuning.

I can understand the different maps from the drivers wish and driving modes for different settings.  Unfortunately I have zero experience with logging diesel engines or even tuning them.

Like I say, the issue is only very occasional, but there is a noticeable dip in power there.  Granted most people wouldnt feel it, but ive tuned me7 cars before and know how different things adapt the feel of the car and when something isnt working as it should.

Viski_b - do you know what blocks I need to log?  Only get the advanced measuring values on VCDS, and not the normal measuring blocks,  so no idea which blocks relate to what.

I have heard of one or 2 people mentioning the actuators being a bit weak on these 170 engines.

TBH, sport mode feels no different to the normal driving mode.
