A friend of mine and I are getting the same error when trying to read the flash on our cars:

"Request upload from ECU failed, ECU reports service is not supported. Request upload may have been disabled by aftermarket engine software.
100% complete.
Reading ECU flash memory failed."

His is 100 percent stock mine has a remap. Same error though. Is it simply impossible to read the RS6 ECU with nefmoto or is there something else going on?

Incidentally, he was also unable to read his ECU with galetto (not boot mode) but he is going to get his car tuned and the device the tuner sent him for flashing IS able to read the ECU through OBD.

I got the same problem like you before. If there is no encryption board of the flash board, I think you could try KWP2000 PLUS clone with ME7-AMT cartech software. Cause I successfully read out the tunned file from 29F800BB (06A 906 032HA/ME7.5/VW Sharan 1.8T) flash with a benchharness. Before I have the same error message in NefMoto when reading in the car through OBD.

Thanks for the tip, will check it out.

I just want to be able to flash it back to stock but not lose the tune that I paid good money for, being able to flash it back and forth would be very helpful.

I haven't been able to read or write a C5 RS6 with tony's tool.

AMT / KWP2000 will do it.
