I want to buy a spare/swap ECU.
Car (European model, 2000 A4 Quattro 1.8T manual) has 4B0 906 018 AA.
Hard to find in the US.
What comparable ECU can I use?

This is narrowband ecu?   If that's the case, probably any ecu from a narrowband passat will work.  There are probably a load of other ones that would work as well, but I would be most comfortable with that.

If it is a narrowband ecu, might want to consider a wideband conversion with a wideband ecu ala CH/CM

Currently wire count on 02 sensor on the car. Other method to determine if wideband or narrow? Short of posting on Euro forums?

Log block 031 with VCDS.  You'll have actual lambda values (in addition to specified) in there if it's wideband.

Does someone know if the 018 AA is wideband or narrowband? Note: don't have ECU or car physically here.

I found the 018AA used in for example 1997 Passat 1.8T. Back then, i don't think they had wideband yet.
So I would assume, just like the 2000 ATW we have here, it is still a narrow band.

The car is a European 2000 A4 Quattro 1.8T manual.
I have just seen (ebay Europe) the 018AA listed for 1997 Passat (but doubt it since that would be drive by cable AEB engine as far as I know).
2000 A4 here is in the US is ATW (narrow band, electronic throttle). The 018AA is often found in A6 with the 1.8T is seems.

So no compatibility information out there?

you can most likely use a 4B0906018P ECU. At least that's what my North American 2000 A4 DBW narrowband equipped car uses.
