HI,

Im doing at test to se if i can use an ECU from AGU engine in an A4 -99 AEB.. I have been reading about flashing the M3.8.x and i bought an ECU that was in the known list of flashable (non writable) ecu´s.
ECU number: 06A 906 018 CJ.

I tried to flash it with MPPS and followed all instructions on the web. MPPS finds the ECU number and wakes it upp but still cant write to it?  On my AEB (557 DA) I can clearly se the diffrence between the flash chip on the AGU ECU)
The AGU ECU uses a AM29F200AB chip..  hmmm is this writable? "AB"? should it be "BB"?

Can someone comfirm this ECU is flashabe? Im going to check the specs on the chip aswell..

If this chip is crap.. is it possible to solder a new chip on the board? I know it might sound like a stupid question but is it possible to use a AM29F400BB?

//Thanks

i flash all aeb or similar cars via obd.
a plcc44 ecu will never be flashable.

Im totally confused.. This is supposed to be an M3.8.3 ECu and most ppl can flash this with MPPS.. But not me...  Any hints?

ERROR: ECU programming voltage missing.. (Going to go through my bench harness one more time)

Do I have to do Immo of before writing?

programming voltage missing and a different windows had nothing to do with each other.
if you had read the error code and mpps screen, the solution was already there.

Ok I will try do the same on my XP machine later today.. I want to know what I really did wrong. I also desoldered the immo chip and loaded an immo OFF chip.. But im sure the immo wasnt the problem..  Could it be that my other computer have MPPS 13.02 installed?  I used MPPS 12 TOAD on my XP machine.

I desoldered the Immo chip and replaced with the one from the car im going to use the ECU in.  I now get security acces.. I soldered back the immo OFF chip from a similar ECU and then it worked again.. So in my case its the immo that creates this writing problem..

Well.. It could have been a combination of both..  The thing is that i messed upp my immo chip from the m3.8.3 box. I used an SOIC8 clip that messed it up.. I can flash the m3.8.3 ECU with an immo OFF file from a similar ECU ( 06A906018CK) but that doesnt help because car wont start.

What do you guys suggest to do?  Shall I  take the immo from the ECU that was in the car from the start en do an immo OFF on that and solder that chip on to the m3.8.3 box?
Or can i do something with VCDS..?

Why do you even need to immo off?

From the start I thought that i had to do immo OFF to swap in the ECU to another car and to be able flash the ECU with my MPPS.

Are you telling me it should be possible to flash this ECU and put in another car without doing immo OFF?

Why not simply change the skc in the new agu ecu to have a swappable ecu with fully working immo?
