RS6 generally stock file, large timing pull
« on: September 01, 2016, 08:42:04 AM »
Getting started sorting out my RS6, re-flashed with 4d1907558 (no suffix). KFLDHBN has been raised to deal with the 6,200' altitude (but should still result in on-curve operation). Apparently a decent-sized boost leak I need to track down, but more worrisome is what's up with the timing pull I'm seeing? Tried two different stations (different brands) and no difference. 91 octane (it's all we have around here). 50,000 miles and uses absolutely no oil.
As a general question, are there major differences in the RS6 control strategies relative to 2.7T to be aware of, other than two MAFs?
Any help appreciated.
Attached file is from a 3rd-gear on-ramp pull.

It would be interesting to see the same car at sea level and 93. I would say those are your reasons for the pull. Was this after recently clearing the codes? Maybe the ignition trim hasn't taken effect yet?

RS6 is very poorly calibrated from the factory. Start by adjusting fueling to properly enrich when needed.

Thanks, was wondering if could be a lean condition. Looks like fitting a wideband will not be pleasant.

Its my opinion that catless downpipes are a must on that car.

Log WBO2, lamsbg and actual won't match, it never does. It is leaner.
Also, enrich more and pull a little bit of timing. Watch IDC, it maxes injectors if you run the turbos flat out.
Nothing to do with catless DP's. It's limited by injectors first and foremost.
Also with 91 octane, I would not tune it too much... Try to get 93 or use octane booster which comes out very cheap.

Excellent, thanks for the roadmap. At this altitude I should be able to get another 2.5-3.0 psi before running off the compressor curve, which (if the injectors will support it) should yield Plus level HP. That's the plan, anyway, for now.
