Evening all,

What is the best way to correct CRC for the ST10? None of the tools I have found on this site have given me any joy. It seems the ST10 is its own beast!

Thanks,

Either original winols with st10 crc plugin or any good flashing tool will correct it while writing.Cmd and ktag does the job fine.

Is that the "Visteon ST10" plugin? (811)

Or the one which matches my vehicle more closely: "Bosch ME7-2006 VAG" (820)?

Visteon is something else entirely.

Also, I am not so sure that WinOLS corrects the checksum for the processor. I remember trying a few years ago and did not manage to get it to work.
Maybe something has changed since then. Back then I just turned the checksums off.

IIRC the checksums are stored in the flash, so whatever tool you use must take both the processor and the flash file.

So how do you manage to ST10 CRC now? The tool you use does it automatically?

Furthermore, why would I need both a read of the MCU, plus flash? If I just wanted to make changes to the flash? So far I have only successfully read the 1mb flash file. I am not even aware of a method for reading the MCU. But... it was my impression that the ST10 boots and loads from the flash, the flash is pretty much an extension of the ST10 in this case.

Mpc (Mcu) can be read in boot mode with various tools. However if you just like to tune the maps inside the flash you don`t need anything else than just your flashing tool which will do your checksum automatically .Your questions could be answered correclty if you just tell us what you need to do..

If you just want to modify the flash there are a million tools for that.

Then you don't.

FYI ktag (latest original version) does not correct the mpc of an st10f275 (r32 - 3.2) in boot mode writing.
It also does not recognize the checksum of the flash if it has been already tuned by another tool in my case (my cmd).
