Ecm took a crap on my mk4 vr6. Looking to swap Ecm's but can't figure out the "secret codes" can anyone please help me out. How and what do I need that doesn't cost 1000 dollars to retrieve these pins?

Hi guys, new to the forum and tuning all together.. I have a mk4 Gti vr6 and had to swap the ecu. Issue I'm sure all of you know is the damn pin codes. How can I retrieve the pin codes off of the original ecu and the used one I bought? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Again just getting started with the tuning also. Anything I need just let me know I'll get it.

Did you try adding the arguments to the command line as described in the stickies you supposedly read?

Yes, problem is I'm not sure I'm imputing them correctly, that's what I'm asking for help with. Car is dead in the water. I'm just trying to get it back up and running. If I wasn't in a rush for the car I wouldn't be such a pest. But yes I've been reading the entire forum and it's confusing the hell out of me... it's definitely a good thing cause I sure am learning a lot. I'm very new to the whole thing, and I'm not trying to have people do it for me.
Thanks for the response.

copy/paste the cmd screen (please use mark/copy, not screenshot) of what you are trying to do.

Sounds like you need to install Rosstech VCP drivers.

COM4 is not usb port 4.

You need the vcp drivers, as others have already pointed out, and is documented, well, just about everywhere.
