i've been converting 1997 A4 over to ME7. i had a 2003 passat ECU to go with my harness but that ECU is bad. i have 2 06A 906 032 HS ECU's from golf/jetta/GTI but from what most say these arent a plug and play replacement. my question is whats the difference? i understand there are ECU hardware differences but with the wiring because i think it should be possible to convert this harness to work with a golf/jetta ECU. the main reason i want to use the HS ECU is because i already did a fully defined XDF for it when i owned my 2002 GTI that also had an HS ECU in it. i figure both are DBW, wideband lambda, have VVT and well basically all the same engine hardware for the most part to make it run and act normal.

Noone will know the answer and write all the details down for you.

Try to find both wiring diagrams from vagtools/internet/friend/carspecificboards and do your research.

I've done this swap twice. We used an AWM harness and ECU. You can used ME7.5 ecu's with the AWM harness. aef is also correct.

i picked up what i thought was the right ECU today. i got 4B0906018DA from a 2003 passat. i defeated the immobilizer on it and in the process of doing that the ECU had 4B0906018DQ firmware on it. now my new problem is when i key on the fuel pump comes on and runs constantly even after i turn the key off and remove it. i have to actually unplug the large ECU connector to stop the pump. i've never seen anything like this before. also i would need to recode this ECU as a manual but there's no coding info on it in vag com. would anyone advise reverting the ECU back to the DA firmware and than attempt to recode it that way? any insight on these 2 issues would be great.

disregard that previous post. i tested my yard ECU in a running 03 car and it works fine. i'll just start a new thread with my current fuel pump problem.
