I have a Euro 2000 B5 S4.  My cluster recently bit it and I lost the ability to communicate with it or my ECU with VCDS.  This caused my immobilizer 2 to kick in.  As an interm solution I had the immobilizer turned off in my ECU.   I ordered a used cluster from another 2000 Euro S4 (Same part number) and now I'm trying to swap it in.  I've followed Ross Tech procedure to swap the cluster but when I enter my SKC it won't accept my number.  I'm also getting a P1640 fault code.  Is this code because of the immo Off setting?  Could my ECU be toast?

The SKC i pulled is 62534.  I've included my EEPROM BIN file.  Can anyone confirm I've pulled it properly?

I'm wondering if the Immo has to be turned on before the cluster can be adapted.  The car runs but the Car/key light is flashing so obviuously there is still some checking going on even though the immo is OFF.

Forgot to mention the fault codes for the cluster.   It says there is no communication with the cluster but other than the flashing key/car everything is working properly.  Car is in limp mode because of the EGT faults I'm assuming but I'm also wondering if that is an ECU issue as I only had one EGT fault before the cluster bit it.

Look for a virgin eeprom file on the forum, then adapt the cluster.

Eeprom error in vcds is 95040 (or 24c02) related, I have had a bad immo off file that did the same.

TijnCu is right , first correct the eeprom in ecu.

But you messed up a few things - in immo2 you only need the new cluster SKC , read it with vageepromprogrameer or K+can.

Then you login to cluster , adaptation channel 00 , after that add keys

And about the communication error - check what adaptation value in channel 60 of the cluster

Thanks for the help.  I'll pull the SKC from the cluster and see how that works.

I paid a shop to disable the Immo before I figured out how to use all the great software on this site.  If they have a copy of my original ECU BIN can I just get that and write it back to my ECU to enable the Immo again?
