Hi all. I just have swapped Audi A3 3.2 engine with BDB code to my Golf MK4.
So, as I know the mk4 and mk5 generation engines have different exhaust cams. Intake cams is same as I know...
My engine running on Porsche cayenne 3.2 ecu ME7.1.1 022 032 096 BT with Audi TT 3.2 MK1 firmware. Immo off, of course.
I have error (exhaust cam position), I also have cams from MK4 engine BFE, so that's question, if I install exhaust cam and valve from MK4 on my engine I will lose performance or increase it? Which cams is better for performance?
I don't have ecu from my engine, that's problem and hardware also different on mk4 and mk5 gen ME7.1.1

Try to get specs on the cams.. and then compare.. Im no expert in cams but.. More lift, duration and overlapp seems to be nice.. Overlapp for NA engines. Not sure if Me7.1 compensates by its own for better cams..

Mk4 and Mk5 have Different Vanos and Trigger Wheel. Also Different Camsensor. But this error also result by False Cam Timing.

camsensor is same by partnumber on 2.8 - 3.2 and mk5 3.2. I have installed my ecu on Audi A3 3.2. It's run pretty well and also have camshaft position error. So i think it's not false cam timing. Also MK5 have 2 type of vanos 2004-2006 and 2006-2008. On 2004-2006 vanos seems like MK4 vanos. But on 2006-2008 engines vanos seems like on FSI engines 3.6 for example.
A have cams and vanos from mk4 gen. But if I install it. I will lose or increase performance, that's my question. At this moment my engine runs pretty well with cam error. On dyno it shows about 260hp with cold air intake and custom exhaust system. But I want to run engine without errors

Old thread but worth mentioning that the correct matching cams, cam positioners, cam position sensors and ECU need to be used to eliminate errors.
