I am pretty sure that you don't need to modifie the map for cruise control, at lest on my A4 I had to recode it with Vagcom and than it worked.
On the 1.2 3L you need to set the configuration byte. The 1.4TDI are already configured but needs only to be activated with VCDS.
I found out the cowFUN_GRA byte by looking for the right pattern.
I adjusted it to 03 and tested it today and works.
I tried to upload the original and modified but I am getting upload folder full.
