Is it just me or does everyone else's cooling fans run full load when flashing the car? If so can anyone explain the answer to this and anyway of possible stopping it permanently.

Mines a 2002 A4 B6

Remove fuse or connector.

Depends on Model/Engine/Flashtool

Galletto on 3L TDI or 2L TFSI does the same and there is a message which asks you to remove fuse x and y.

Always connect charger to the batterie.

Surly it's an output from the ecu when flashing that causes it to run.
Have you ever known anyone to find in the written code what forces the signal, or maybe it's a loss in voltage reference that causes this while flashing. Does the same this as if it's a bad checksum.

It's a default setting of the fan module, not the ECU. When it loses comms with the ECU, it goes into failsafe mode and runs at 100%.

Thanks for the info, now I know for sure. Grin

Im guessing pulling a fuse or disconnecting the fan module is the only work around?

If the battery is decent, it can easily run the fan for 5 minutes while you are flashing.
Safer to connect a charger, but if you KNOW the battery is good, there will be no problem.
