Attempted to read my ecu earlier on my '02 jetta 1.8t... Been reading a lot on the site...! Plugged in Ross tech cable, disabled intelligent boot in vcds, opened nef moto and attempted to connect and kept getting could not open ftdi device and the failed to read something something ftdi device message I believe it was... Took out instrument fuses and still couldn't connect... Changed baud rate and still nothing... =/ what is going on....Huh

I guess you would say knock off.. It comes from a company that deals with them but yet has Ross tech on the sticker label... And pulls up as Ross tech on nefmoto devices...

Won't work if it is CH340 based (many knockoffs are). Please read the stickies.

just read recommended cables section and mine was one of the recommended cables to use and is a genuine ross tech cable, hex-can usb.. ftdi232r is the type and says premium licensing feature supported... im confused..

I've had issues with just using the genuine ross-tech cable before any other ftdi based on a given pc.  It won't install the ftdi driver correctly/at all, and then you'll get the "can't open fdti driver" error.  The driver executable installer might work it these cases, but what I do that always works for me is just plug in a generic ftdi cable, which will install the driver, and then the ross tech cable will begin working with applications like nefmoto/me7logger.
