I made a bad flash (read overconfident) and now my car (octavia rs stock 150bhp SG box) wont start from the 2nd start.  Tried everything from repeated flashing stock files with nefmoto (old and latest versions) and correct disconnection. P0601 - "Internal Control Module Memory Checksum Error" just refuses to go even after repeated clearing with vcds, nefmoto. My brother has same car and ecu so tried swapping ECUs But immo blocks it from starting. So now the only way I can start the car is by overwriting the RAM area where EEPROM is copied with my brother's EEPROM content( I dont have my stock EEPROM data) after switching ignition on, car doesnt seem to mind the different VIN and immo number once after the ignition has been switched on. So long story short now I run my car with laptop connected always and VAG-K_CAN_Commander_1 software running just in case it stalls   Grin. I dont have the cable for boot mode flashing, I am at loss as what to do. Is it possible to clear the code from my eeprom dump and write it back using ArgDub's ME7_95040 - EEPROM programmer . I have attached my EEPROM dump with the error code,   read from the RAM using VAG-K_CAN_Commander_1 software. It has been a  fun learning experience except for I was stranded miles from home and had to leave my car overnight and the trips to my brother's home  Smiley.

Can anybody tell me which are the bytes responsible for setting this dtc from my eeprom dump, so I can reset those bytes and reprogram my eeprom. Huh

Thanks for the reply , I plan to do that but before that I need to erase the bytes which is setting this DTC in my eeprom. I am trying to trace it myself but am a little heldup. Until then need to run the car connected to laptop all the time.

No, you don't.

Put the ECU in boot mode, and program the 95040 with ME7_95040.

"reboot" the Ecu, and start the car.

and that Dump is incorrect.

Embarrassed  when you say program what exactly I have to do. I am doing my best reading most of the posts here and want to contribute to the community as soon as I can  but  I still have very little knowledge about the whole subject.

Hi all.. I have extracted my eeprom with ME7_95040 - EEPROM programmer and made some changes which I think will clear the DTC P0601 imo. Can somebody confirm this to me so that I can write back the modified eeprom to my car. I am attaching both the files. Please Help..

Thank you Rarak. But I think I have bricked my ECU.

rajivc666 : if you have rewritten the flashrom-content, and in the middle of this, it stopped, then it is
obvious, that your ecu throws this code.

No matter what you want to fiddle with the eeprom to try to correct it.

You sayed you bricked it. is there no communication at all possible with the ecu ? (via vagcom f.i.)
Normally via bootmode you still can reprogram the ecu, and get it back to life.

Can you give the codes of your ecu, so we know what software-version we're talking about ?
(a vagcom-log will be great).

Do you have a Galletto, Kwp2000+ or Mpps programmer ? perhaps a friend has one of these ?

I've attached a original flashrom-file for your ecu. This one can be used for bootmode-programming to get you going again.

Cheers,

Pvl

what do you use too read the eprom contents or does this have too be done in bootmode?

Pvl the flashing was ok but the mistake I did was the file I flashed was a modified file in winols which was made from an already modified file instead of an original file as recommended by winols. So me7checker shows their is no problem with the checksum but after flashing the file I drove for about 20m kms and then shut it off then when I try to start again it wont start and it threw this code.
I have done everything from trying to reflash with original stock file , tuned file, different versions of nefmoto , but the code refuses to go.
Only way I could start the car finally was by writing another cars eeprom content (same model car as I didnt have my stock eeprom saved with me ) read with vagcom comander to my car after turning on the ignition.
From what I understand vagcom comander reads/writes eeprom content from/to the RAM and not directly from EEPROM.
So the error still remained in eeprom, when i turn the ignition the error is copied to the ram and has to be overwritten in the ram to start the car everytime.
When  I tried to write eeprom in bootmode then this happened - http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=1344.0title=.
