OK I'm a moron. I was playing around with MPROG and somehow managed to wipe out my generic blue KKL cable. My buddy has two others that I've tried to read, save the .ept and reflash mine but it's not working. One is/should be an exact duplicate of my now useless one.

My now useless cable (#1) now shows this:

I swear though, before I messed it up it showed Blank = 0 and Programmed = 1. What I would have expected.

The good, working duplicate cable however looks the same and shows:

Note that it works fine but it also shows Blank = 1 and Programmed = 0. Why? How can that be? These are not the same screenshots.

I can Read the working duplicate cable OK but it does appear to be unprogrammed. But when I try to Read and Parse, it give me a Read Error. So MPROG will not let me save the profile .ept file from it.

My friend has another working cable. It looks totally different and appears to be fully programmed. When I first just Read, it gives me a generic serial number. After Read and Parse, though, I get a real serial number: 58913862. I can save a .ept from this one.

But when I try to write the .ept saved from the other working cable back to the now bricked one, it says No Devices Found.

So what am I doing wrong? Why does the working duplicate cable look to be unprogrammed but it functions fine? Remember the original cable before I messed it up showed that it had been programmed and no longer blank -- but it couldn't be read. And why can't I write the saved .ept back to the bricked, "blank" cable?

Thanks for any help.
