Hey guys,

I have a VW MK1 Caddy (same front as Golf 1) and I have three engines, an 1.8T AGU DBC me3.8, an AWV DBW ME7, and RS4 2.7TT engine. What do you think about these three options I bring to mind:

- AWV with AGU Head and ME7 Management + RS4 K04-025 Turbo (idk how hard it will be to make it fit).
- AGU Block + Head with ME7 Management and DBW throttle etc. (can this conversion be done?) + K04 or bigger Turbo.
- 2.7TT RS4 Engine Ultimate Swap mounted transversely with a 5 spd gearbox.

1. What are the pros and cons of these two different engine swaps?
2. Can the 2.7TT be mounted transversely and fitted with a 1.8T Gearbox, or do I need to find a way to get the Quattro installed altogether?
3. Which one costs less to make 400+hp?

What are your guys' ideas?

P.s. Here is a link to my inspiration for this project, the JapCrap 1JZ MK1 Caddy: http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/04/united-nations-of-car-culture-1jz-vw-caddy/

How much does a stroker kit cost? I would rather focus on getting a better than K04 turbo before I move on to 2.0T displacement. Like at least a GT2860Rs.

Btw, are the K04-025 turbos on RS4s better than the S3 K04-022 Turbos?

The manifolds aren't the same.  RS4 is 3 pot per bank, 1.8t is 4 pot.

The boxes are different.

Cost shouldn't be an issue if you want to build a 400bhp 2.7 bi turbo caddy.

No point in using a stroker kit for an engine swap car. Just put in a bigger engine, much cheaper. If you already have the rs4 engine I would use it, it is more special. Also a lot more work fitment wise, but who cares! You can also make it a longitudinal setup with rear wheel drive. Cut and weld the car around the engine  Smiley

Sell the rs4 engine to finance the build Smiley

S3 turbo as same turbine as rs4 but bigger compressor (same as rs6)

Hmm... nice ideas guys. I'm wondering what RWD would do to a MK1 Caddy, which would be about max 1150kg, and 65% of the weight at the front...

I will probably go for a nice fun to drive 1.8T for the weekends. And the Mk1 at max. 1100kg so it would go really quick even with medium horsepower.
